A good kick in the pants

Nothing gives you a good kick in the pants like putting your house for sale!

Stupid TLC and HGTV!!! I blame them for those buyers who want everything done for them!

NO I WON'T PAINT THE LIVING ROOM!

I understand that the house must be clean but everything brand spankin' new? No way hosé!

So over the weekend we scrubbed and painted and I changed (finally) the kitchen faucet...yes the one that had been dripping for years....

And now that the interior is mostly done we need to take care of outside...raking leaves and painting,staining.....

We are really happy with what is being accomplished and we plan to keep everything squeeky clean...

The old kitchen faucet had been dripping for years....and even
when we tried to fix it, it was not cooperative! We tugged and pulled
for more than 4 hours and we were not able to pull out the old
cartridge. When i turned the water back on, the faucet was not dripping
anymore...but that miracle lasted only 2 weeks.
Enter the new faucet! With an integrated  veggie shower it
was pretty easy to install once Dan was able to remove the old one.
I started but didn't have the strength.
So this gives me another faucet under my belt...so in the last 10 years I've
                                          installed  4 faucets. Not bad!

As for light fixtures...I've installed 10 light fixtures and rewired 3 lamps in the
same time period not counting dimmers. I quite enjoy working with electric                                                   thingies and if I had to start over today I would probably take an electrician                                                   course.

We still need to wash windows....

ROADTRIP!!!

You know what they say....All work and no play makes Johnny cray cray!!!

So hardworking folks needed a break!

We headed south to beautiful Lake Placid NY for so deserved R&R.

We stopped at Smoke Signals for lunch.

                                We shared a smoked ruben

And a burned ends sandwich. Delicious !!!
                                The lake was mostly defrosted.
This is one of my favorite place. I feel like I truly belong here; at least
                                  for a vacation!

For breakfast on Sunday we headed to a new spot; The Dancing Bears.
It was delicious, super clean and they had a bottle of maple syrup on every table!
That is so generous! I remember going to New England a couple of years ago and
an itsy bitsy pitcher of maple syrup was $2.50!!! Highway Robbery!!!

Needless to say there was NO thrifting! Boohoo!

                                  Maybe tomorrow....Stay warm!

Major Progress

We had an amazing weekend!

We worked very very hard on the house. Since we rented a storage space last week, we had to start moving boxes! Loads of boxes! As an added bonus we had the use of a minivan.

Unfortunately the picture of the full minivan did not make it. But the picture of the storage space did!

It is much bigger than the picture shows, but you can see 2 blowmolds!

We moved more than 30 boxes today, an outdoor love seat and
                                           an antique bed frame.
I am so tired I have problems getting around but I think that with a couple of
                                           liqui-gels I should be A-Okay!
For supper I was really please with myself that I thought of cutting veggies
before to add to the grilled chicken salad .

Here are some Pyrex bowls waiting to be packed.

I will be visiting Bath and Body works tomorrow at lunch and I am super excited!
                               I got a gift card @ Xmas!

                               Be well and sleep tight!

Packing and Displaying

Since we are painting the kitchen grey and white the existing
Pyrex had to go!

Of course I am thinking that I will miss my Pink Daisy Pyrex during the
transition. In theory pink and grey should work and does work but I wanted a
new color scheme and turquoise and white was it.
I will miss the Pink Daisy so much because I associate this pattern with my grandma
as I inherited her 045 casserole.

This will be the home of one of the new display.

It's not done yet so no pics!

Have a great night!

Happy Easter!!!

I wish you all a very Happy Easter! May you day be filled with joy, peace and of course food!

I also wished I had seasonal pictures to share with you ...It snowed here yesterday....and we are knee deep in painting the kitchen!

In between coats....we clean, purge and pack!

I made quite the discovery on Friday while cleaning a shelf in front....

All these homemade liqueurs! Blackberry, orange, strawberry,
coffee, red currant and xmas cordial!
Of course it was my duty to taste them all to see if some had
gone bad! I threw out 2 : the orange liqueur was soapy (EW)
and the xmas cordial was lumpy! and the taste was off as well!

I was looking for wrapping packing paper in Staples on Wednesday
and saw my favorite Tassimo flavor! Pumpkin Spice Latte!
And the price was just right too $4.99 a package instead of $12.99,
So I grabbed 3 packs. DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, they are discontinued...
I don't know what will happen in the Tassimo/Keuring battle....
Tassimo makes a mean cappucino and a meaner latte but there are less
                                            varieties....

As mentionned before we are painting the kitchen.
here you can see the before color (green) and
Here is the new color; grey.
We felt that the green had turned and would turn prospective buyers
                                                     away....
I will share more pictures as this evolves.

                                                     Don't eat too much chocolate!
