I've created a monster!

A coffee monster that is!

When I gifted a Tassimo coffee maker to Vero ,my step daughter, well really my daughter;

I had NO idea she would love the Tassimo blends that much. This is crazy!

We were over there yesterday and she offered us some coffee...

Being the nosy mom I am...I just had to see all the variety..

What I saw stunned me...

And she had another cubbard full just in case...

She has no food but plenty of coffee!

Bedtime is here. Be well, sleep well and have a safe and happy tomorrow!

Itching

I'm itching to sow seeds now....but it's too early

I saved  quite a bit of seeds...In the biggest jar is perrenial sweet pea; the medium jar has
butternut squashed and in the itty bitty one are delicata squash seeds

Of course you recognize  some of my Pyrex!

So in this picture you have 3 things that make me happy: seeds, mason jars and Pyrex!

I had a talk with Dan and we will definitely be back in the funky gravy on the So Guy chinese restaurant in Morrisburg, Ont.

So I should eventually get pics for you!

Really???

When we went to Morrisburg, we had lunch in a lovely ; yet really old fashion chinese restaurant.

I ordered some Soo Guy chicken and I was really surprised when I got this....

I'm sorry I can't make the picture bigger..but here in Quebec, chicken Soo Guy doesn't come with gravy, it comes with cherry  sauce ON THE SIDE!

So this was definitely a weird dining experience for me!

This is what chicken Soo Guy looks to me...

Forget about a picture! I couln't find one on the internet and I never bothered taking one!

So hang in there and I will have a pic for you sooner than later!

Cute

Yesterday we hopped in th car and headed to Ontario; Morrisburg to be more exact. There's a flea market on Sundays....Every Sunday from 8 to 4...

I didn't take a lot of pictures, because how many ictures of overpriced Pyrex can you see? Really?

We didn't buy anything; we were looking for some thrifty battery operated camping lanterns and didn't find some.

On the way home we stopped in Long Sault to a flea called the Market Place, some of our furniture comes from there.

I saw this and have to take a picture!

Aren't these tackylicious yet adorable?

I'm already regretting leaving them!

Oh well!

Maybe they'll still be there when we go back!

Be well

Bad News, Good news

I was really surprised when my neighbor's son knocked on the door yesterday....First of all he knocked and we never get visitors.

He asked me if I recognized him and my first thought was that he was going to tell me that his Mom died . But thank god he just came to tell me that his Mom wanted me to have her old dishes and that she was moving.

Now this lady is my favorite neighbour and it feels real good to have her next door and she was the cats babysiter.

But really I didn't think about the cats, I only was sad about seeing her leave...

Here's somethings she gave me:

This a sweet, sweet ashtray, you know how I LOOOOOOVE ashtrays!

Onion Soup dishes with plates
Made in Canada

A Glasbake casserole with warmer

I love this reamer but the maker escapes me....

There're plenty of other treasures but I didn't have time to take pictures.

I hope to show you more soon!

Left at the thriftshop

It was slim pickings last night at the thrift shop but I saw a couple of beauties!

Music box with boy figurine broken and glued back up
and not very well I might add!

I'm guessing red carrots S & P, they were a good deal at .60 cents each but up close they were all scratched up so PASS!

Super cool percolator but no cord....PASS!

But saddest of all the sweet primary blue Pyrex 401 bowl
all dull and scratched from the dishwasher! PASS!

I got a small carpet (new) and some vintage napkins and placemats, but I didn't cleaned them so no picture.

TGIF! I can't wait to cook a turkey and veg out, amongst other things....

                                           Be well!

Thrift Shop!

Happy Fat Tuesday friends!

I'm all excited because  just saw where my pal Linda will stay in Paris! Go check it out, this is a SWEET place!

OUI OUI GAY PARIS!  In case you didn't know (It can happen) Gay Paris didn't have any sexual preference connotation, just a happy place!

I also discovered a really fun and funky song courtesy of my co-worker Lindsay. It is called Thrift Shop  by Macklemore

(WARNING some language is not appropriate, but the video is really fun)

Here it is

Hope you like it! It makes me want to thrift and find a big ass coat!

                                            Have a great evening!

Thrifting and Thifty dining

Hello! I've missed posting for the last few days and haven't done so because of my Iphone issues and more recently camera issues....

Well I'm happy to say that they are all fixed!

I usually only thrift once a week (much to my chagrin) and winter the finds are few and far apart.

Last thrusday I was blessed with these 2 finds....

A lovely carafe with oranges and a lab glass piece disguised as a vase/carafe I'm not sure what. But it is in the book. The decor was added by the Handcraft Novelty co in Brooklyn N.Y. There is a tag inside the bottle neck.

I believe that you can never have too many of these carafes! LOL

Now for the thridty dining. I had secured reservations to the Le Saucier , it is the dining room of a cooking school in Lasalle. People actually fight for those! Last thrusday was breakfast at supper.

We started with yogurt with citrus and a fresh fruit salad

Both were delicious and very fresh. We were also served fresh cranberry scones and cinnamon corn bread.

And then the kitchen fell in the weeds! See all that Food Network watching is very useful.
And we waited and waited got another round of scones and waited some more.

By the time our breakfast mains arrived we were like 2 zombies spotting some fresh brains!
So of course I forgot to take pictures!

I had a very light smoked salmon omelette with sausages and Dan had crepes with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and bacon. Totally decadent!

Top that with all you can drink coffee...what a meal!

And all that for $5 plus tax is that a deal or what! Talk about thrifty!

Well I'm off to shovel some snow because we had about 8 inches which is a lot less than my friends in Maine who got a whooping 29 inches!

Smile

Oh in case you're wondering which Dutch Baby recipe I used here's the link :

 http://allrecipes.com/recipe/dutch-babies-ii/

An unknown Pyrex pattern from the archives.

I don't believe I've shared that one with you.
I saw it Maine in October.

Seeing it again made me smile.
And we all need to smile more!

Be well

Sooo GOOD!

I've realy been aware of this for a couple of years now but the time never seemed right....

We watch our weight constantly especially after Xmas, we even had some carb free years....

But I just couldn't resist anymore...I NEEDED TO MAKE A DUTCH BABY!

What a taste sensation! I basically used the first recipe I found on the web...what hooked me? The nutmeg....

So it turned out really well and I pre-heated my cast iron skillet for only 5 minutes...

Isn't it beautiful and all golden.....YUM! I just served it with warm maple syrup....

Now you may ask what Dan thought of this...What he said was: Why didn't you make this before??? Where does that recipe come from? You must ake this very, very often!

LOL! It is not as bad as I first thought, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup flour, pinch odf salt and nutmeg, I used fresh ground and I do believe it makes a difference....

Since you need to butter the pan...I.E: make about 2 tablespoons butter melt in the pan than dump the egg mixture....the butter infuses everything so good, so so good!

I can't wait to cook it again!

Yep and I just noticed i'm losing followers left and right! Sorry I don't thrift as much, believe me it pains me much more than it pains you!

So long!

Not fixed yet...but

Ok so I've spent part of the evening fiddling with the Iphone situation....so far no luck

but I just read a post saying to send the pics to ny email and save them from there.

So I downloaded some pictures via my email and I hope I can insert them in this post...My Dad is getting impatient!

So I've been receiving my yearly dose of plant porn....sweet, sweet plant porn that makes my blood shiver.

My favorite so far had the sweetest picture, a true symbol of milder temperatures

A ladybug hanging out on Dill or Queen's Ann Lace.

I have eggplant on the brain eversince I discovered I wasn't allergic!
I can see eggplant parm in the near future....

Ok I get that the picture is upside down but I put it right and when I upload it to the blog it changes...This is arugula which we totally love in salads and even cooked. I will sow some for sure!

Kale that can whitstand some cold and snow? I want some!

I'm also looking at beans, cukes and squash.

But first I need to make an inventory of my seed stash....
Mice ate one box...Note to self never keep seeds in a cardboard box!

LOL! Life lessons

Bliss

I spent my weekend vegging out in my PJs watching TV and cooking.

I did'nt even bother to fiddle with the Iphone situation...so no pictures.

On the upside, I get to write about stuff that got left behind even if it is amazing

Like these knives...these are Laguiole steak knives from France.

I swear that these are the BEST EVER steak knives.

The steak sees them and just cuts itself.

YES this is the honest truth.

Best steak knives ever, EVER! If you get the chance get some
They will last a lifetime with proper care..no dishwasher...
I hope to fix the Iphone thing soon.....

Sleep tight!
