Woohoo!

I am really happy to announce that the books in the green room are gone to their new home!

WOOT!

200 boxes....OMG

All gone!

A big weight is off my chest!
I feel I can move forward, enjoy life and have fun!

 Speaking of fun....
we went to an amazing church basement sale....
and of course we are not even out of the car that we spot these beauties...
I need to add Charities to our list of vintage addictions....
the wood will be refinished and we will enjoy those in our 2 living rooms.

This sweet thing I spotted in a container in a flea market in eastern Ontario....
I just saw the color and knew I had to check it out!
The seller wanted $7 and I offered $5.....
DEAL!
I kept it close to my heart until we came to the car...
Good thing I always pack bubble wrap and newspaper in the car!

This past weekend was actually the first weekend in a long time without rain
and really cooler temperatures.....So we went to garden centers for supplies!
I bought a new papyrus plant for the water garden as well some water lettuces and originating plants.
It doesn't look like much now but as they grow it should look good.

One fountain started...one more to go!
this one is the easy one.the size is manageable and not
too heavy...the other one another matter!

The rhododendrons are in full bloom.
My Dad loved them so much.
And he was always pushing me to buy some...
To tell you the truth they scared the bejesus out of me!
But now that I have 15 in the garden...it is okay.
we do our best and that's it!

What more can we do?

Ready!

So 2 of my thrifty finds are ready to share....

First one is definitely a guilty and secret obsession. I LOVE LE CREUSET!

I will try to keep this in check and not flood the apartment as I have with Pyrex....

When Dad passed I found out he had quite a bit of Le Creuset, some badly damaged, I kept the good pieces.

On our day trip on Saturday, I was really excited to find this....

A nice Le Creuset gratin dish!!!

It was only $6.00! Any Le Creuset under $10 is a bargain!

I have big plans for this dish! Like baked gnocchis...
or maybe some enchiladas!

Next is this little guy!
Hello Frosty! I saw this at a perpetual yard sale...
It is opened 6 days a week except on Wednesday. we stop by
every time we go to Ontario.
I never know what goodies I will find...
Vintage Coca-Cola glasses, vintage OJ glasses, Vintage cookie tins, Pyrex.....

I lost 2 blowmolds last winter, so I was really happy to find this....Dan (woodworker extraordinaire) paid for it.....

Aaaaahhhh Thrifty goodness!

This feels sssooooo good!

Seen Around

Last week we filled the car with boxes and bags to donate and headed west

to the nation's capital Ottawa.

This is called hitting 2 birds with one stone: we get a road trip and we visit a lovely Value Village
where they are not sick of us....

I love this picture.....
But I had to leave it at $9.99!

This is probably a frame destined for a child's bedroom...
REALLY???
The clothes look like they were made out of scraps to tissue paper
and toilet paper....Pass!

I used to have coasters like that at my old house...

This jar would've been dyn-o-mite in my Etsy store...
BTW I reopened my Etsy store!

I have a soft spot for Scotties!

This piece of nail art, is as intricate as tacky.
That is a lot of work!
It was really popular in New Brunswick.
They would make fishermen and Sagouines

This fondue set really caught my eye...
But I was here to donate, after all.

These pieces were unmarked but I highly suspect they were BMP
Blue Mountain Pottery from Collingwood, Ontario.
Alo seen in the Byward Market

Sweet, sweet Easter cookies!

The Byward Market is an outdoor market in Ottawa, Ontario.
It is surrounded by specialty food stores (cafés,fish mongers, charcuteries, cheese shops, butcher shops) and restaurants. We make a point to stop and shop every time we visit!

We had a lovely time!

Until next time, Ottawa!

$2.99

We decided to have a R & R day. Yes you are right a Rest and Recreation day.

What it means for us is a drive to Ontario! And I had 2 boxes of stuff to give to Sally Ann.

But first we stopped at our neighborhood hardware store to get some supplies for tomorrow (reno day). We needed a tape gun to help us with the boxes.

We got one and 2 rolls of tape for $11.59 plus tax.

Our first stop in Cornwall, Ontario is always Value Village....I took great pictures.

If I still had my Etsy store , I would've picked this right up.

As a cat lover I found this both cute and scary!!!

You need t really LOVE bagels to have a bagel cradle in your
                                            house.
This is RARE, so RARE! A complete chip n dip set!
If it had been Pyrex, I think I would've had cardiac arrest...

I nearly bought this deliciously tacky Florida bowl, but remembered
Dan's instructions (don't bring anything home unless it is the Pyrex of
                                         your dreams/something really amazing!)

Speaking of amazing....I left this bar set on the shelf because it
was missing one piece on the right. We are planning to have a bar
in the new place but we haven't really discussed the specifics.

Speaking of bar...How about a round of booze roulette?
                                          new in original package?

Seeing Pyrex , even Old Orchard bowls, makes me happy.

                                                    Now onto lamps....
The green one, I found pretty interesting but
it seemed like a homemade contraption....
As for Marie Antoinette, it is so far from my taste....

                                                    And last but not least.....

                                                    2 tape guns for $2.99 !!!
Guess I'll be bringing the other back for a refund...and I'll get the tape at the dollarstore!

Seen Around

So yesterday we took a car load of treasures to Brockville, Ontario.

I know, I know we have thrifts in Quebec, but for the most part I think volunteers don't know anything about vintage and throw stuff away if it is not new enough. I heard : Throw it out it's junk! more than once in the last few months....

Which might explain why my garage sale didn't go so well....

I had made the promise not to buy stuff unless it was A MUST! A Pyrex I've been looking for or something we need...But I took pictures....

A beer cap wising well....wat floors me is not that someone drank all that beer....but that person had the vision to keep them all and build an ugly ass wishing well!

But it was all made from Molson Canadian beer caps! How patriotic!

 As you might know, I have a HUGE vintage astray addiction....And I am a non-smoker (go figure).But
this one gave me the wheelies....It looked like a sci-fi  creature....

Tis I really liked and nearly dragged home...Miss V take a deep breath and remember the promise....

I also like tacky travel souvenirs and what better than this tacky tray from the Notre Dame de Lourdes
sanctuary in Rigaud, Quebec....It is near my house!

That bowl was unmarked but really sad looking....so I will give it its 2 minutes of fame....

I really like this fondue kit, all bright, orange and vintage....and quite a steal at $4.99! The promise, the PROMISE!
A sweet Fireking casserole waiting for a home....Now even if I am not a huge fan of Fireking I love this pattern...

I like the look of a vintage globe I find that the $24.99  price tag was ridiculous!

We had great fun and a great day and can't wait to pack more boxes!

In the eye

I am talking about the eye of the beholder of course.

I am one of those bloggers who don't really feel it is important to show pictures of themselves. I feel it is irrelevant and I think I don't photograph very well.

Last weekend we went to a flea in Morrisburg, Ontario...the sun was shining and I had to wear a hat.

Dan insisted we stop for pictures and since has been hounding me to post the pictures in my blog or at least one.

So here goes

That is for you sweetie, you fill my life with sunshine and laughter!

Take care friends and fellow bloggers, sleep tight

Roadtrip!

Thank you friends for all your good wishes and love.

It was very appreciated.

This morning we packed the car with boxes and bags of donations and headed west to Brockville, Ontario.

Why Brockville? To tell the truth Dan thinks that this Salvation Army store is more deserving than the one in our area and they did sell me a Turquoise Snowflake casserole with lid for .50 cents....so I had to give back!

This time I found a barely used, unstinky, unscratched Tupperware for .50 cents. It is the kind you use to store food in the pantry

We had some of Don's Fish and Chips for lunch

                                             Promise of a tasty lunch

The fish is so meaty and cooked to perfection; next time we just might skip the french fries and get more fish!

Besides that no thrifty finds! But like the very wise Dan says...It might be a sign that we should purge the garden shed before we find more treasures....
I agree!
Tomorrow we have a program of getting rid of some invasive plants, relocating echinaceas and floating in the pool.

Life IS sweet! Thank you God for all the riches!!!

Itching

I'm itching to sow seeds now....but it's too early

I saved  quite a bit of seeds...In the biggest jar is perrenial sweet pea; the medium jar has
butternut squashed and in the itty bitty one are delicata squash seeds

Of course you recognize  some of my Pyrex!

So in this picture you have 3 things that make me happy: seeds, mason jars and Pyrex!

I had a talk with Dan and we will definitely be back in the funky gravy on the So Guy chinese restaurant in Morrisburg, Ont.

So I should eventually get pics for you!

Really???

When we went to Morrisburg, we had lunch in a lovely ; yet really old fashion chinese restaurant.

I ordered some Soo Guy chicken and I was really surprised when I got this....

I'm sorry I can't make the picture bigger..but here in Quebec, chicken Soo Guy doesn't come with gravy, it comes with cherry  sauce ON THE SIDE!

So this was definitely a weird dining experience for me!

This is what chicken Soo Guy looks to me...

Forget about a picture! I couln't find one on the internet and I never bothered taking one!

So hang in there and I will have a pic for you sooner than later!

Cute

Yesterday we hopped in th car and headed to Ontario; Morrisburg to be more exact. There's a flea market on Sundays....Every Sunday from 8 to 4...

I didn't take a lot of pictures, because how many ictures of overpriced Pyrex can you see? Really?

We didn't buy anything; we were looking for some thrifty battery operated camping lanterns and didn't find some.

On the way home we stopped in Long Sault to a flea called the Market Place, some of our furniture comes from there.

I saw this and have to take a picture!

Aren't these tackylicious yet adorable?

I'm already regretting leaving them!

Oh well!

Maybe they'll still be there when we go back!

Be well
