Aaaahhhh Vacation!

I just love being on vacation....I got rest, physical and mental. I am getting rid of this pesky summer cold that
has been dragging me down for 4 weeks....

We got a lot of move related stuff done, take that move you're not the boss of me!!!

Our neighbor was so thrilled when we mentioned that we needed to get rid of a huge horizontal freezer....as soon as I finish emptying and cleaning it she will send her boyfriend and friends to move it.

To tell you the truth we were freaking out about the freezer, it's old, it's ugly ( since it was in the woodworking shop, Dan woodworker extraordinaire,  kind of used it as a work table....) but it still works!
We had no idea what to do with it....to ugly to sell, to heavy to move from the basement by ourselves.....
So I'm glad it will start a new life in my neighbor's garage.

I had to change a valve in the pool...AGAIN!!! Nearly every year I have to change it, I gave a piece of my mind to the owner of the pool shop and she said that some parts are really cheap now, and a lot of customers have to change that same valve every year! I was glad to learn that and I feel better about my poolgirl skills!
This is the valve in question.....
You can clearly see the crack in the plastic....If we had stayed that pool would have been history in September....Ad I would've bought a new pool to be installed in Spring 2016...
But this is not to be and I am looking forward to NO
pool maintenance.....

We had lunch at Blak's no 1 in Ile Perrot
great fried chicken!

Tomorrow if you're looking for me.....
I will be floating in the pool
or

Lounging under the parasol....
Stay cool!

LOL or NOT

Even through the tears, life is funny and quirky...

My neighbors ( I am a millionaire and female semi-pro clown) sold their house and moved out...And they threw a lot of stuff out.

I can't believe she threw out one of her costumes. I called this one the Pikachu.
I could stop from laughing. Dan wasn't too happy when I whipped out my phone
                                to take a picture....Be discreet, I hope they don't see you...Well I hope I never see
them again, they were very self centered and would blab on and on about their                                             possessions....

My other picture is about something very serious....
What happened to the PRICE of beef???

                                          Nearly $19 for a puny blade roast....OUCH!
And that is at the cheap super market (Maxi & Cie in Québec or Canada's                                                   Superstore in the rest of the country)

Instead I bought a discounted nearly expired piece of brisket that I marinated
with red wine, onions, Worcestershire, soya sauce and spices....
                                          Delicious!
From now on I will only buy red sticker discounted meat....

                                          Take care and sleep well!

Bad News, Good news

I was really surprised when my neighbor's son knocked on the door yesterday....First of all he knocked and we never get visitors.

He asked me if I recognized him and my first thought was that he was going to tell me that his Mom died . But thank god he just came to tell me that his Mom wanted me to have her old dishes and that she was moving.

Now this lady is my favorite neighbour and it feels real good to have her next door and she was the cats babysiter.

But really I didn't think about the cats, I only was sad about seeing her leave...

Here's somethings she gave me:

This a sweet, sweet ashtray, you know how I LOOOOOOVE ashtrays!

Onion Soup dishes with plates
Made in Canada

A Glasbake casserole with warmer

I love this reamer but the maker escapes me....

There're plenty of other treasures but I didn't have time to take pictures.

I hope to show you more soon!

Big Garbage Friday: What my Neighbor Threw Out!

I just want to welcome my new followers; I hope you'll enjoy your visits! I haven't had time to check out your blogs because of my crazy schedule you know where....

Last night I was surprised to see a woman running with a wheelbarrow full of bags and stuff...She looked kinda familiar; i think it was my neighbor's sister. Between 2 trips; I checked out the pile 'o' crap....

Are those legs I see???

Hello dolly!

Magazine rack still with the eeewww magazines in.

This was one for hoarders for sure! there were bags and bags of old stuffed animals and uninteresting stuff in garbage bags.

Just then I remembered that a couple of years ago when I had mice, she had some too and she told me she didn't call the exterminator...She just picked up he mouse poo with a broom and stuffed the holes they came from with kleenex. KLEENEX??? In which parallel universe does she live?

So I kept my garbage poking to a minimum....Until I saw...and dragged them home...

Who can say no to a free plastic snowman who lights up and a funky weird but with potential coffee table?

NOT ME!!!

I gave the table a good cleaning and left it outside for the night. I'll clean Mr. Snowman later. I already found him a place for this winter!

Last few days to participate in my giveaway....Right HERE ! Please comment on that post for a chance to win some fun vintage and new stuff!

Have a great Friday! :)

The Bike

My bike is now officially vintage! It's a 1989 model that I got second hand in 1995. When we moved to the island.
I found the basket in the trash a long time ago and it has proved really useful.
Last year after I was laid off, I declared that I would bike everyday, life was beautiful blablablablabla!
It ran real bad, I took my bike out 3 times last year and it took all my energy to pedal...even if I put air in the tires! I even got into an accident- I nearly got run over by a distracted mom in her minivan. I remember her daughter screaming at her to stop! That was close!
Dan's didn't run any better, some part was stuck and it made a real squiky noise. I don't know nothing about bikes...so that was it for the bikes....

This spring I had the stroke of genius to ask my neighbor if he could perform tune-ups on them. Not the same neighbor that coplains about my blackberry bush... He's retired and an avid cyclist. And of course we would pay him!
The bikes run better then ever now and he never wanted to take a cent! Now that is a great neighbor or what?
I now like to take by bike out nearly everyday and pick up veggies at the farm stand! You do need to balance the weight well in the basket....
Tomorrow we're supposed to go swimsuit and underwear shopping- That's always fun....
Have a great one!

Friday Mish Mash

Today I will blog about an ecclectic mix of stuff...
Last year I had enough of my neighbors complaining that my blackberry bush was srcatching their cars ( In my humble opinion they just had to drive more to the other side to avoid such incidents). It was not like the bush was keying their cars (?%$!"/$%)! So I gave said bush a MEGA trim last fall, so big was the trim that i was sure I would'nt have much of a blackberry harvest...Well SURPRISE! I have a bumper crop, I gathered at least 12 cups of those little nuggets of flavor, some jam will be made shortly, but for now they all went in the deep freeze. First pic is my hand stained with blackberry juice- all out of focus thank you very much! lol

Second pic : Those same neighbors have a statue of a little boy sitting on the patio. The strange thing is that it is a statue of a little black boy painted to look like a little white boy.... An attempt at humour? I doubt that very much...I'll have to investigate!
When I moved to the suburbs I found their lawn ornements real weird... One could see at lot of little black boys fishing, black jokeys carrying lanterns, mexicans pulling donkeys and tons of virgin marys in half baths just like a grotto....

Now we are being gentrified...housing prices are going up and people are jonesing to keep up with the jones....add to that the politically correctness wave...Most of those ornements are gone! Yet some people find it perfectly ok to underpay and abuse the migrant workers that come to pick our crops (Go figure!)
Last pic: I had never seen such a funky looking caterpillar so I just had to take a picture!
Tonite I'm making an Indian meal, tandoori tofu, curry lentil, paneer with spinach and basmati rice. First attempt at tandoori tofu, I'll keep you posted.
I'm also taking a keyboard fingering course (I had to translate doigté de clavier so I'm guessing) to help me type better and not injure myself....
Have a great weekend all! :)
