OMG

The house SOLD, the house SOLD, the house SOLD!!!!!!

What? What? What?

And it sold in less than 2 months...which is freaking amazing considering the price point.

All the stress fell and we caught this freak cold...If a cold and the flu had a love child!

That really kicked our butts...all the while trying to pack boxes, boxes and more boxes and trying to deal with the balance of my dad's stuff.

and working full time....so it was good times all around!

This is also a very emotional time as I am purging, cleaning and finding this I was not aware of.

My Dad was as shy as he was exuberant...Yes it happens
When he told me he had been nominated for an Emmy award for Cirque du Soleil's Dralion
he also told me he would not go and pick it up in L.A.
This is when he received it at his workshop.

I took this picture from the TV.
I was watching the documentary that was released
the year after his death. It was like visiting with him.

This picture is from Google. He was in his early 20's.
His teachers had him pegged as a fashion designer
but he loved the theater.
So selling his house and moving is a huge thing but
it was a necessary thing.
I do not see our life as scrimping and scraping trying to get by
, to pay insurance and those crazy municipal taxes....
So of my Dad's friends do not approve...
And to those people I say fiddledee!

And to this fuzzy bellied cat I say hello gorgeous!
Yoda loves to sleep on her back!

When we move in my Dad's house we only bought
a sofa and a staked washer and dryer for small places.
this move we needed a kitchen table and we wanted a Tulip table
but after seeing the prices we opted for a lookalike not really Tulip table

and those will be our dining room chairs. we decided to
refurbish our old chairs for the kitchen.
And after trying 50 plus sofas we decided to keep the 60's black vinyl
3 seater and put foam and new vinyl on it.

Last week on a buy and trade Facebook site, I read
the message of a young woman who had recently separated and had
2 kids and she was looking for this we could donate.
So I gave her these. She was so grateful and happy and I did not have to list them and deal with
weird classified buyers...

I had to empty my freezer and look what I found...
pork chops from 2015! and they are not even freezer burned!
WHAT???
I am my parents daughter and I will thaw them out and cook them.
My mother was a penny pincher and even if Dad loved to splurge he was really cheap on food!

We also got through our first move.
Yes we will have 2 moves.
All my Dad's nativity is moved, 50 boxes, all the wood working tools
the freezer, the extra fridge and some furniture.
So that clears a lot of extra place for new boxes!

Seeing this makes me so happy, I feel tingly all over!
We have a red room right now and we love it, so this was
a no brainer!

I just fined baking Dixie's Orange Cake from
Pyrex prize recipe. This was a challenge from the Facebook group Pyrex and everything vintage!

NAILED IT!

That's it for tonight...Suddenly I am very, very tired

Take care faithful readers!

New Chapter

So we've arrived at a new chapter in our lives.

My stepdaughter and her boyfriend and her fur babies moved in downstairs. We had the pleasure of babysitting them on Friday.

The girls are getting used to the new surroundings.
Since we are in the middle of the city I had to reserve parking with my
move (demenagement) poster.
After a hard day's work we just had to have a

Champagne toast to our new lives.

Cheeseburger fixin's

Dad would be so happy to have family nearby.

Looking back

I knew i had to do a post on 2015.

What can I say? What can I write?

In a nutshell we sold the house. Getting it ready was A LOT OF WORK! We needed to fix some things to make it sellable.
We should've put some money aside every year to keep it up to date but we did not.
So it was a race to the finish.

I am proud of what we accomplished, all tose DIY shows paid off in the long run. They still do as a matter of fact.

The experience we gained a homeowners is priceless and we use it nearly every day! every week Dan  says : I am so glad I didn't get rid of MY tools!!!!

Lol that is priceless.

One thing is for sure that we are not hoarders.....we were able to get rid of so much! And still continue to do so.

I have no new pictures to share because of a computer problems ....it can't find a network....

I still miss the house once in a while, but not really if you know what i mean. I miss the cats I lost

mostly....Donald, Tipi, Paloo, Bobbit, Pinotte, Guizoo and Bob. Lots of love. Lots of memories.

But that is just part of life and having pets.

2016 should be FANTABULOUS!!! i feel great, energized, ready to soar

I subscribed to Appartment Therapy's January Cure and so far so good

I am looking forward to thrift galore and a smogasborg of garage sales

I haven't picked out a word for 2016. It is quite a trend this year on Facebook.
But I think those sites that pick a word for you are a sham.
How can you just give your first name and get a word that will guide your whole

Oh well, if it helps people....

On this note I want to thank everybody that left a comment, took the time to read, I really appreciate it.

See you soon dear friends!

I found the onions....

Hello there!!!

I am writing to you from the big city (Montreal) we finally left the burbs (Ile Perrot) .

We are really happy to be here. There is still a lot of unpacking to do....

                                             So many boxes!!!

Our first comfort breakfast . Homefries, bacon and an over easy egg
The view from the dining room

As you can see Bandito is settling in just fine...
The first day we wanted a cup of coffee but we couldn't find the mugs.
Then we couldn't find spoons....the next day I couldn't find knives....
Yesterday,  I wanted to make chili for lunch...I couldn't find
oregano and onions....Thank God the downstairs neighbor (Dad) is really nice and
friendly.....

I was really excited to unpack the Pyrex....
This was the saddest box so far!
I lost the Utility Lime Green lasagna dish, a Lime Green pie plate,
a Desert Dawn pink round cake dish and a Flamingo round cake dish.

So 4 pieces in one box....so far the only casualties but sad never the less!

Earlier this afternoon, I found the onions....so all is fine and dandy in our
new home!

Sleep tight!

New Display

It might seems strange to make a new Pyrex display since my moving day is coming up at the end of the month....

But to tell you the truth, I packed up ALL the Pyrex in my cupboards and now I am running just on the Primary bowl set, the Primary refrigerator set and a couple of casseroles.

Yikes! I am used, like the Pyrex Princess that I am, to pick different dishes depending on what I serve....

Definitely a first world problem! LOL

Pyrex YUM!

I am glad Pyrex still makes me happy.
Otherwise I would've packed it up and
sent it to assorted thrift shops....

We haven't moved in 20 years and things can be stressful at times.
We had a couple of manic panic episodes and we had
to talk each other out of them....

Every time I visit my Dad I feel that I am finally coming home....
Strange no?

Sleep tight and have a great week!

So Cool, WOOWZA, and I can't believe this!!!

To tell you the truth, I wasn't after a title this long, I wanted something short and to the point.

The house is sold, 9 days on the market, and we got the full asking price. We had less than 10 visits and 3 offers on the same day, which is really cooky in my book!

We actually had an above asking price offer. but the buyer had never visited the house and we felt it was suspicious.

Since I will be leaving the Outaouais shore there are some things I will be missing and I found that I had made an unofficial bucket list in my mind!

On top of my list was : take advantage of ALL seasonal  blooms!

Our lilac had a falling out 2 years ago but new branches grew last year just in time to give us new blooms!

So  now it is lily of the valley time and I decided to enjoy it to the MAX!
I have enough blooms a least to fill out 2 or 3 more Mason jars!

Now on the down side. We had noticed that Yoda was losing weight and we decided to weight her every week just to make sure we weren't cray-cray!!!

There was definitely something wrong with her and after some tests , she was diagnosed as diabetic.

Based on her age and condition, and our experience we decided to start treatment and see where it would leas us. We had a diabetic cat about 14 years ago and he lived to be 21!

So this is truly a one day at a time situation.

Major Progress

We had an amazing weekend!

We worked very very hard on the house. Since we rented a storage space last week, we had to start moving boxes! Loads of boxes! As an added bonus we had the use of a minivan.

Unfortunately the picture of the full minivan did not make it. But the picture of the storage space did!

It is much bigger than the picture shows, but you can see 2 blowmolds!

We moved more than 30 boxes today, an outdoor love seat and
                                           an antique bed frame.
I am so tired I have problems getting around but I think that with a couple of
                                           liqui-gels I should be A-Okay!
For supper I was really please with myself that I thought of cutting veggies
before to add to the grilled chicken salad .

Here are some Pyrex bowls waiting to be packed.

I will be visiting Bath and Body works tomorrow at lunch and I am super excited!
                               I got a gift card @ Xmas!

                               Be well and sleep tight!

Seen Around

Since the thrifting is non-existant.....

The nest best thing for me is Dollar Store shopping.....in Montreal the Dollar store chain is called Dollarama.

I saw these last Friday

Okay, this really freaked me out! Dollarama Weight Loss Centre! WTF???

I didn't  check out the prices ; dollar stores here now carry items over a dollar...But I don't think I would buy raspberry ketones or green coffee beans from the dollar store.

Look at that man's face and tell me he doesn't look like Wolowitz !!!

                                             so funny!

We are still working on the move but things are going slower than planned (and different too)
I say that as long as we do move related chores, then we are moving forward!

We gave out one hutch, one bed and a dresser....So we need to redecorate around the missing pieces. Just as in the decorating shows we are shopping in our house and reporposind things left and right!

I hope you all had a fantastic week! And I am off to bed so I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed for work tomorrow!

Whatever goes

So tonight I just want to post but I have no game plan...

So I'll just write about my week. One sure sign that I am a survivor is that on February 28th was the fourth anniversary of my present employment! YAY for me!

On Wednesday I visited Target to see what their big close out sale was....In case you are living under a rock...Target Canada is closing ALL of its stores in the next month or so....I could have predicted that at least 6 months ago but I love Target and I hoped they would succeed in Canada but they didn't for assorted reasons...

I am sure that this HUGE FAILURE will make the textbooks for business students.

                                        Sorry mannequins  looking lonely

At least the 20% off Easter candy was a good deal! The thing is they advertise 40% but the only things that was 40% off were DVDs....
Ok Target you are moving out, you are probably sore about this failure but you neer wanted to hear what consumers had to say.....So GOOD RIDDENS WE WILL BE SPENDING OUR MONEY AT WALMART!!!

And believe it or not it pained me to write that. Because I am not a fan of Walmart either but I have to give them props because  they have been in business in Canada for 20 years now and Target lasted not even 2.

I walked in front of my fave Portugal bakery....It has been closed for about 1 year....and for some strange reason they didn't bother to remove the cakes from the windows...

The cakes are looking crusty and the Barbie is looking lonely!

On the homefront the bathroom will be finished tomorrow.
We have been here 20 years and never painted the washer & dryer space!
This was long overdue!

And I have been packing boxes...Seems some Pyrex is going in storage!

I am a HUGE Leonard Nimoy fan and I just want to wish all of you:

Live Long and Prosper

Still TCB

Choosing 2015's word was a no brainer. TCB (taking care of business) worked so well in 2014, that I decided to choose it AGAIN.

So as our first TCB actions of 2015 today : we will install our vision board, clean the pots and pans cupboard....You know what I mean...Yes you do!

The recipe is simple: 1 part keep, 1 part store, 1 part donate. Easy peasy!

And finish caulking around the kitchen sink.

The organizing experts have got it wrong...Even when you are reading to give some stuff up, doesn't mean you can do it all in 1 hour!

On December 26th we cleaned out the first shelf of the pots and pan cupboard but after I had a headache and was exhausted, so I asked Dan if we could finish this another time.

2015 will be a year of change and of many trips to the thrift to donate! I might even pick up some new treasure along the way!

If you remember, I will put my Etsy store on hiatus on January 13 th. I already have gone through my inventory with what I will kept for myself, what to offer to my stepdaughter and what to donate.

We also have decided to put our house on the market; I.E all the purging nd organizing. We can't stand the commute anymore and let's face it our little town has been invaded by loads of stressed out citydwellers leaching their stress all over, driving like a-holes etc...

So if all goes according to plans, we should have Xmas 2015 in the city. Everything is still up in the air, but I have faith that all will be for the best and all parties involved will be hunkydory.

I end this post with pictures of our trip to Maine in February 2011. They had a big ass
snowstorm and for us it has been one of the most memorable road trip to date. We hope to go back soon and bring Dad.
Dad loves Maine and the ocean and would love seeing them in winter too.
The first 3 pictures are of York Beach Maine. The first of is of the Goldenrod , makers of the best
salt water kisses EVER!

Last 2 pictures are from the beach in OOB.

of course we had to stop there. This place is so dear to our hearts.

So that's it for today. I will finish with capuccino (yum) and attck the caulk!

Be well!!!
