Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is such a magical day for me....

It is the expectation, the waiting, the magic.....

December flew by...with us running every where, adulating a lot more than we like to....

Decisions, decisions.....and ...wait! More decisions!

We started packing today because we can start moving things on January 6th.....and that is just around the corner.....

YIKES! there will be a lot of storage place in the new house, such as a dedicated towels and sheets closet....and a laundry room....oh my with cabinets for the soap etc....

so 3 crates of summer sheets and comforters and 2 boxes of Pixies, 501s and butter dishes (Pyrex of course).

The Clear 501 and 502 were a gift to my Dad and I decided to keep them
and get the butterfish.

So for now no more packing....just enjoying the family , the cats
and the food......

Happy Xmas Eve!

New finds

So February in Canada means a visit to the financial adviser or contributing to your RRSP
if you have one.

I don't really like parting from my hard earned cash but in the long haul but
I will get a tax reduction...

Near the financial adviser's office there is a Value Village!

Of course I had to stop!

Scored these vintage new Horizons Blue Pyrex Fridgies for
a big ol' $3.97 canadian! woot

Now I am on the hunt for the Horizons Blue 503....

New Chapter

So we've arrived at a new chapter in our lives.

My stepdaughter and her boyfriend and her fur babies moved in downstairs. We had the pleasure of babysitting them on Friday.

The girls are getting used to the new surroundings.
Since we are in the middle of the city I had to reserve parking with my
move (demenagement) poster.
After a hard day's work we just had to have a

Champagne toast to our new lives.

Cheeseburger fixin's

Dad would be so happy to have family nearby.

Found at the thrift

Saturday after the periodical hair makeover...

On the way home, there is a thrift and I can never seem to remember the name...It is really called Hope crossroads or crossroads of hope; of course I'm translating loosely.

Of course I'm always full of hope...Well you never know...

A big pile of computer carcasses

                                           A nest of forest fancies

 I couldn't resist Pyrex

The 502 for 2$, the 501 for .25$ and  the
beaker for 1$

I'm starting to see more and more lab glass in my neck of the woods and I like it.

Here's a picture of lab glass in action.

A nice way to make the plant cuttings grow.

See you soon :)

I have a date with my pillow zzzzzzzz

More Projects Completed!

My oh my oh my! yesterday was magical. We were in the reno zone...so cool!

Ok this is the wardrobe before...One side pantryesque and the other for coats and boots. Notice the before color that deep burnt orange that says: hey! we went to south america and we feel the need to cover the whole house in terra cotta!

After shot. I really like the new panelled doors and that beigy, mocha, brown, khaki color.

Old light (I hate those! we have them all over the house)

New light (I'm totally in love with this one! I've been eyeing it for years now, it's from LLBean-love)
Also this is the toot my own horn moment, I installed it myself and Dan was the helper-I'm the resident electrician)

Our reward...

Lunch! There was some meat, but it was not in Pyrex....so not in the pic!

No blogging for me tomorrow, I'm off to the city for some bloodwork and the annual tit pressing (I hate this)

Have a great evening :)

Blackberries....And a Pyrex giveaway!!!

Blackberry season is in full swing on the side of my house! I just love those little nuggets of juicy goodness!

I eat a couple but the bulk goes to make the most delicious Blackberry jam....So good!

A friend gave me a root in a bucket about 10 years ago...I was clueless about growing them and not really interested to say the least! LOL

They are the easiest berries to grow, I don't water them, I don't fertilize them, the only thin I do is give them a good trim in the fall (cut all the branches that bore fruits).

And I finally understand why farmer's market sell them at crazy prices....They are a pain to pick!

All those thorns! For 2 weeks in July I'm covered with scratches. Well, why don't you cover yourself, you might ask?

Because FAT SWEATS!!! LOL! Thanks Tracy for that one! And it makes for great stories....
Not 15 minutes ago I got stuck in the bush...I had
a big branch full of thorns stuck in my hair! Ouch! And funny at the same time!
A couple of years ago I had a sweater and got stuck real deep in the blackberry bush....And couldn't get out and I kept calling for help...Yes it's embarrassing...LOL
In the Pyrex cup it's what I picked 20 min ago. I have to go back tomorrow morning otherwise the birds will eat them and crap purple all over my patio!

As for the Pyrex giveaway...well I'm so excited to have a new computer (It works like a charm) That I decided to spread the joy!
So please leave a comment on this post before July 19th and I will send 2 lucky winners a little Pyrex refrigerator dish! Now don't be shy, everyone is included! I will ship to Europe and to the U.S not to mention Australia! So spread the word I want lotsa and lotsa comments and new readers!

Re-arranging

I do have a lot of Pyrex....but never too much! And I realized that I don't really use it in sets ( Even if I make the bowl set rotation in the kitchen...like a set du jour, or more a set du mois-I try to change the bowl set every month-not always working!!!)
I realized that I use my bowls in sizes: I cut ingredients for a recipe, I pull out a lot of small 501 bowls, bigger recipe bigger bowls (you get the picture? I'm sure you do!) So I decided to re-arrange my big armoire to feature all the 501s together, all the little casseroles....So far I have done only one shelf, but so far so good! Not working outside the house is pretty exhausting! LOL
And let's face it boys and girls I will have to start looking for work pretty soon :(
But I digress....

And thank you for asking I do feel better! lol
And I have finished season 2 of Angel...On to season 3!!!
I promise not to stuff myself with mindless tv. I will watch it in small doses (Only one or 2 episodes daily!!!)
Actually I have no idea if I'll be able to manage that....chukles...Is there a TV anonymous???? Or an internet anonymous???
Don't you just love the color of Pyrex? It still makes my heart sing!
But the collection takes a lot of place....Why, oh why didn't I fall in love with stamps.....coins???? something light and small???
Probably because I am so visual and the Pyrex colors and the patterns.... A true JOY for my color starved eyes.....Spring oh spring were art thou?
Ok my shakesperian spelling leaves something to be desired! Like all of you are so perfect!!!

LOL kidding, kidding of course you know I'm kidding....
Well folks, be good ,eat your veggies and above all be kind to your neighbors
(You never know they might have some Pyrex.....lol)
