Whatever goes

So tonight I just want to post but I have no game plan...

So I'll just write about my week. One sure sign that I am a survivor is that on February 28th was the fourth anniversary of my present employment! YAY for me!

On Wednesday I visited Target to see what their big close out sale was....In case you are living under a rock...Target Canada is closing ALL of its stores in the next month or so....I could have predicted that at least 6 months ago but I love Target and I hoped they would succeed in Canada but they didn't for assorted reasons...

I am sure that this HUGE FAILURE will make the textbooks for business students.

                                        Sorry mannequins  looking lonely

At least the 20% off Easter candy was a good deal! The thing is they advertise 40% but the only things that was 40% off were DVDs....
Ok Target you are moving out, you are probably sore about this failure but you neer wanted to hear what consumers had to say.....So GOOD RIDDENS WE WILL BE SPENDING OUR MONEY AT WALMART!!!

And believe it or not it pained me to write that. Because I am not a fan of Walmart either but I have to give them props because  they have been in business in Canada for 20 years now and Target lasted not even 2.

I walked in front of my fave Portugal bakery....It has been closed for about 1 year....and for some strange reason they didn't bother to remove the cakes from the windows...

The cakes are looking crusty and the Barbie is looking lonely!

On the homefront the bathroom will be finished tomorrow.
We have been here 20 years and never painted the washer & dryer space!
This was long overdue!

And I have been packing boxes...Seems some Pyrex is going in storage!

I am a HUGE Leonard Nimoy fan and I just want to wish all of you:

Live Long and Prosper

Decisions, decisions

Well today, deciding on a blog post topic was pretty hard.

Here were my choices: Weight loss journey
                                    Anniversary supper at the Ritz
                                    More Pyrex Lovelies

Guess what I chose?

Pyrex Lovelies of course! Not that the other stuff is not interesting....But Pyrex is Pyrex!

I will have plenty of time to discuss the other 2 topics soon enough.

Now It was high time I changed my displays in the kitchen, so what better occasion to take some pictures and share my Pyrex.

A Decorator 043 casserole. I don't think it has an official name and I fail to remember the
unofficial one...

Snowflake Blue

Guess what? I forgot the name of that one too!
But it sure is lovely!

Black Tulips
I love the way the light hits it.

Spring Blossom Green

 Verde

I always thought this one was named Mistletoe.
It is the pattern on the lid after all!

Another of these mysterious Decorator casserole.
Real pretty

This is....Turquoise Dove? Maybe? I still love it!

Now I was so sure I'd taken pictures of the new display BUT NNNNNOOOOOOO!

Oh well! It will be for another time.

Be well, sleep tight and I shall be back real soon with a road trip story? The amazing
anniversary dinner at the Ritz?

Come back soon to read more!

Garage Sale Madness

I was up at 6:30 on Saturday morning and to my great surprise I found Dan in the living room sipping coffee. No time to waste Miss V., I saw a lot of garage sale signs all along the river from Lachine to Ste-Anne de Bellevue last night. Hurry up!

We left the house around 8, after all I soooo need my coffee in the morning and we had to unload the car of all the Danish goodness...

We hit yard sales, garage sales, driveway sales, estate sales, moving sales...We even stumbled upon 2 streets in Dorval  holding their 31st annual garage sale weekend. That was CRAZY fun! We just parked the car and walked for like hours!

We probably hit between 40 and 50 sales! Here the bounty...

The Pyrex casserole I got for 1$. I find that my Pyrex eye is really sharp; I spotted it more than 100 feet away and was out of the car before it stopped. I didn't have that one...HUM Daisy 043 casserole!

The french press coffee pot was never used....and quite a find for 2$

The Tupperware Pickle Saver looks unused too, no scratches and no greasy used Tupperware film (you know the one....)

I like the estate and moving sales because you actually get to snoop in other people's houses...The moving sale was in one of those huge McMansions. I was really surprised at the size of the rooms. Little, little rooms with big marshmallow beds inside and nothing else. The kitchen was lilliputian, mine is twice as big. And everything for sale was new, but really new; the latest furniture and accessories. Everything looked barely used....I was really weird for me the vintage junk lover. These people are selling everything and most probably will get all new stuff at their new house....

I was really excited to find the 2 Glasbake Hottles (yes hottle and not bottle) at a local thrift store. Yes, we managed to hit 2. The glass fridgie I got for my Dad; he's so over plastic.
I couldn't leave the Expo 67 serving tray...It's so wonderfully kitschy and will make a great addition to my Etsy store.

As you can see there is some damage on the lid's design...Crazy scrubbing with an S.O.S, I'm guessing....I couldn't shake a  deja vu feeling...so I went shopping in my own house...and found a brand new lid for it!

WHOOHOO!

So how was your weekend?

Playtime

Can the casseroles come out and play? Well of course!

I had misplaced my bid laddle (how can someone loose a big laddle in their own house????)

Well it certainly was time for a big cleaning. All the pots and pans are in this awkward corner cupboard. When I look for something I have to kneel and use a flashlight!

I might as well, take all the Pyrex casseroles out as well and rearrange and take pictures!

And I found the laddle! But no sign of the waffler iron's cord (that vanished as well....Did I throw it out???)
I have been cleaning the house for nearly a year now....It's a slow process, I just couldn't start throwing things out, well most of them at least...I sold a lot through Ebay but by Xmas my stuff wasn't selling as well and what was I had trouble getting paid. I started an Etsy boutique as well, it's doing ok but you have to be patient. I gave clothes and books to the church basement and we had a garage sale. What we haven't sold will be offered at another garage sale 2morrow but as per the Weather Channel it will rain.....So instead we will go to the Salvation Army and donate the boxes and that will be the end of that circle.
Everything has a lifespan and it doesn't mean that if I don't want something it's not good anymore. It needs to find another home and it probably will through the Salvation Army!
Knowing me...I will probably start accumulating stuff for another garage sale (2014-2015), maybe you'll read about this in a blog, LOL!
Pool update: I took my first swim last night, 80 degrees, the bottom is 90% clean, the water was chemically perfect. I will vaccum again today (if it's not raining)

Crash!

Yesterday around 2 p.m, I fried my computer...everything stopped (My heart included!)

I found a guy in the local phone book would could pickup my laptop and fix it and bring it back....

He came to pick it up just as promised left me a receipt. I got a partial diagnosis later last night....My C drive was full (surprise!)....he would clean it up and bring it back.

Today I got my laptop back....I have tons of room now. But when I fried it, i fried it good!!! Real good!
I lost sound, the external mouse, and both my USB ports are gone too! Bouhoubouhou!!! Which means (I don't really care about the sound) that I can't print, can't use my external drive, can't download pictures....I probably missed something too! In the process I lost my recipe book. It's on my external drive...but since I can't use it....

My techie also told me that my laptop was living on borrowed time (lol), but I knew that. I bought it second hand and was really surprised that it lasted soooo long!

Well at least I got most of my Pyrex pictures and am already working on a way to get a new laptop.

So that's why I'm posting nice cheerful Pyrex pictures. I find them relaxing and happy. Tech gadgets will break eventually it's a fact!

Being 24 hrs without the internet was quite a change. I didn't even open the TV! I just worked on classifying all the garage sale stuff, making boxes for the salvation army and baking brownies to thank my neighbor Claire to take me to the shopping center. I also invented a nice chinese supper...BBQ chicken breasts in spare ribs sauce (chinese garlic sparerib sauce) and rice noodles, green beans and carrots in black bean sauce....Lip smakcing!
