Sweet Thrifty Finds

Since we have 6 mouths to feed now (Our cats plus Bambino and Piccolo Nero; the strays that come visit); I find that I'm constantly washing saucers so it was high time I head to the Salvation Army for some thrifty goodness.

I did ask the thrift Gods for some Corelle saucers, some Pyrex and cool stuff! Ans my wishes came through!

 8 Corelle saucers
A kick ass 502 Canadian Delphite fridgie
and a super cool vintage cheese cutter.

Everything was dirt cheap; the Pyres was .49 cents, SWEET! And all for me!

Yes I realize that this is my third Delphite 502; I just can't help myself..If I had to get rid of all the Pyrex i would keep the Delphite, I can't live without it, I guess it's the colour.

Have  a great night

Slow Thrift Week

There wasn't cool stuff at the church basement this week....except this!

It looks like kind of a cheese board but it had hooks and a cord to hang it. You can remove the little platters. I know that because one was loose, the others were 'glued' with tape. I didn't buy it for the store because it's too heavy and would cost a fortune to ship.

I'm also getting pretty excited about starting my job on monday. I need to get organized; especially with the food! I don't think I will have time to cook every night, so I need to find big batch recipes that fit with the GI diet. I also need to make 5 days of outfits with 3 skirts. Ultimately it would be great if the dress code allowed for jeans....but from what I saw, I might need to look for clothes @ the Sally Ann!

In the meantime I baked a double batch of cranberry bran muffins (great snack) and got all my Pyrex Primary working hard!

The kitchen is all in shambles!

This is our new fave teapot! I first saw one last summer when I bought one for my Dad. It is stamped Pyrex ware for Teamakers Inc. And it comes with a stainless steel basket. My Dad  loves it! He loves it so much he wanted to bring it on vacation in Maine, but finally decided against it because of the breakage factor. I love its shape, it's sooooo cool!

Well in December Dan gave me a mission....find another one but this time for us. We were sick of those infusers that rust. I found ours on Ebay for a reasonnable price (the shipping was good too). We now use it every day for our after dinner tea.

Bad pic of the interior :)

Last night I made a celery root and carrot remoulade salad. I choose the Spring Blossom Green to enhance the colors of the salad. It looks beautiful! And was delicious too.
Tonight we have a sugar shack/country line dance party. It will be a good way to burn off all of these delicious maple calories!

Have a great weekend!

Lovely Surprise!

First of all good morning and a gorgeous week to you! Yesterday I had 79 followers and I just found out I lost one :(

Friday morning was in the top 10 bad mornings of recent history. I couldn't open the safe for dear life. I tried 15 times at least....and no opened safe means no cash register, no debit machine, I.E I couldn't open the postal counter of UNjoy...I had help from the head cashier and she couldn't open it either....I had to call and wake up my super nice (no joke) colleague  who works nights and saturdays and she finally guided me and helped me open the !"/$%?&* safe! So I was able to open the postal counter at 9:20. I'm sure I'm going to hear about it this afternoon because EPM is back from vacation. Just thinking about it, my stomach clenches!

However in the afternoon a lady was at the counter asking for me...My first thoughts were 'what did I do wrong now?' Well I didn't do anything wrong it was France from the cool blog I follow Passion of Milk Glass Collecting ! She came over to say hi! I was so glad and surprised to see her! She brought a nice ray of sunshine in a crazy day!

Saturday I was stuck working 9 to 5. This was sooooo boring! Boring really tires me out! Once again at 8 pm I was conked out on the sofa on a saturday night!

Yesterday was my B-day and to tell you the truth I was sooo glad to be home, I didn't want to go out! Dan stayed in pjs all day, I cooked, I vegged out, ate B-Day cupcakes, took a nap...I tell you I was in cocooning heaven!

I also listed a bunch of things in the store, I had a lot of backlog...I found this great tray in the church basement, barely used, with the knife and the original box, it came from Consumer's (Distribution aux Consommateurs). That chain of stores was all accross Canada and closed in the late 90's. I used to love that store! You would go in, fill out an order form with those little dinky pencils, give it to a clerk and they would fetch the merchandise for you. I'm sure France and Erin you remember those guys.

A true gem for the store!

So that was my weekend! I haven't forgotten about the giveaway dear readers, I will have the results tomorrow morning at the latest!

Have a great day!
