Delicious Saturday

The original plan was to get up early, go pick up my dad, hit Finnegan's, eat at Smoke Meat Pete (You can't beat Pete's Meat) and drive my dad back. Unfortunately dad had to work on saturday....

So instead we got up early, packed some sammies and hit Finnegan's all by ourselves. The day was perfect, sunny not too hot(until afternoon) and flea market lovers were out in full force!

Those 2 lovelies were begging for a good home!

I always like a boxfull of bakelite handled cutlery.

Is that the Primary set I see? Too kaching and too worn out!

Lovely glass, Pyrex and Fireking Primrose

I want!

I am curious by that small bowl....it wasn't the same primary blue and it had a newer stamp underneath from the late 70's early 80's...Microwaveable

I nearly had a heart attack at this table....There's not much I like better than seeing a big group of bowls!LOL

I found some totally fab things for the shop....

A Fred Press liquor caddy! How cool is that? Don Draper has one on his desk for sure!

And the ladies who have lunch are bound to serve it on some lovely FireKing Luncheon plates!

How was your weekend?

Finnegan's Flea Market

Haaaaaaa! Saturday morning, not too hot, kinda overcast....Spur of the moment ROADTRIP!
Off to Hudson Quebec, about 30 min west of Montreal. Hudson is a sweet village on the shore of the Two Mountains lake with gorgeous houses and quaint little shops and saturdays Finnegan's flea market.
Situated in a field, it has a real old fashion feel. There you can find collectibles, furniture, crafts, antiques, plants, organic veggies and honey and homebaked goods.

In the second picture my friend Therese (chance meeting) just put a deposit on the gorgeous english hoosier in front of her. She just happened to stop by on her way to Ottawa.
I always feel like I'm on vacation when in Hudson. Time seems to stand still...
Of course I was on the hunt for some missing Pyrex pieces and maple syrup. My supply was long gone....Thank god my regular supplier was there! 4 cans should last me a year(I hope). I also found some sweet pea seedlings at Ferme le Tournevant (a small organic farm) run by young people.

I saw some Pyrex, but nothing I was looking for. A small turquoise 401 was marked 20$ (that is a lot of clams!!!)
We did find a true treasure...Unfortunatly I have yet to take a pic...A heavenly ashtray for 2$.
I'll try to take a picture for next time!
One thing is for sure: You can always have a real good time there!

This seller had nice stuff, but a real bad attitude! LOL (I won't be buy his stuff anytime soon!)

My fave pic of the day! I just love those birdhouses and old chaird togheter.

My new treasures

Yesterday I went to one of my favorite flea markets: Finnegan's in Hudson Quebec. It is situated in a field and is kind of small but really charming. And the energy yesterday was magical, and people were excited! I spotted the turquoise 403 for 8$ and I mustered the strenght to bargain, so i got it for 7$. Of course I had support from my love. Next in another booth I spotted the holy grail of Delphite; a Pyrex delphite pitcher: I didn't even know it existed...I just love delphite, the color makes my heart sing and I am always amazed that it is made in Canada! I grabbed it and would not let it go. I had to think about it, 'cause it was 18$. But I had just sold the famous 3 bowls Butterprint set to a dealer so I had money to spare...Here you can see it next to the creamer for size reference. My heart is still fluttering...Today I scored a Butterfly Gold 471 casserole(no lid) for 2$. I had never seen such a small casserole. Pyrex keeps popping up from everywhere! I remember a time writing Madge from Solid Cherry to complain that all the snow birds had taken The Pyrex to Florida...
