And he told me that he might have the largest yellow bowl that belonged to his mother( my grandma) in the apt downstairs. My Dad owns a 2 apt house and he rents the downstairs one to friends from abroad that come to work in Montreal.
The downstairs apt used to be my grandma’s before she had to go to an assisted facility. So I take the train and go see my dad…and we go to the first floor and I’m all aflutter (you know the possibility of Pyrex, free and with provenance!). And we open all the cupboards and the drawers and NO yellow bowl; my dad is sure he’s seen it….But then we find this….
And this
And I’m so emotional. I’m getting an actual dish my gran cooked in. Dad says she made tuna casserole in it and the small one held salt.
And I go home with my heart full of Gran-Mimi. And everytime I open my cupboard I smile and think of her…
So this week I’m feeling a bit blue (like delphite) and I needed to invoke the Spring Gods
to bring in the nice weather. It has been slushing (rain and snow) for 4 days straight!
So I made this….
I don't know if the sun will shine but it sure cheered me up!
Have a fantastic VTT and be sure to drop by Suzanne's blog Colorado Lady !

Great pink casserole display! I love it! Isn't Pyrex just the best (to cook in, to invoke memories and just to plain look at!)
I'm verklempt.
No really...I have no words...
I love pieces that came from Family! Pyrex Pink is my favorite and I don't own even one piece, but one of these days the right one will hope in my lap i'm sure of it. Love this display!

ACK!! I love all of the pink Pyrex! I have several of these too but your collection is amazing!! I need to find a way to display it like you have - it's so pretty!!
That's an impressive display. It makes me wish I had a place to display that kind of collection.
How pretty.
By the way, you have too many pink casseroles ----- and I have none!
My mailing address is ................................

Beautiful! Nice to have the family provenance isn't it?

We love Grand-mimi Pyrex...
the nice weather is coming our way and soon we'll be walking in chinatown ... So to ease the blues you may sing now:
"Don't know why, there's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather, since my man and I ain't together
Keeps raining all the time"
Keep on posting Vonlipi Darlin'
hugs and kisses from your Carebear..
That is too cool!!! I love having things that have family history. My husband has a set of pyrex mixing bowls his mom gave him in 1976 when he moved out. We still have them and maybe we can pass them to my son when he moves out to go to college.
The display is nice. I am still waiting to find my first piece of pink pyrex. I have my fingers crossed everytime I go thrifting.
From a non-Pyrex lover...wow..... love 'em!
How wonderful that you were able to add to your beautiful pink Pyrex collection with one of your grandmother's pieces. I love that little blue dish she used to hold salt too!
And that lovely display would cheer me up too!
Kat :)
You have the pink Pyrex collection of my dreams. Oh wow.
Beautiful colors!
What a wonderful group of Pyrex bowels filled with great memories. I have never them in this color. Very nice.
Oh, I am loving this pink Pyrex. I have some harvest gold pieces, not like this, but I have loved them for years, lately, I am wishing I had some pink ones! How wonderful to have some that belonged to your gran. Happy VTT!
PS you are not going to believe this, but the word verification for my comment is "granni"....how cute is that?!
Your collection of pink pyrex is gorgeous!
The colors of your pyrex dishes are just lovely. Your shelf vignettes look great.
Thanks for visiting me today; come again soon.
Amazing collection. The pieces look even better when you cluster them as you have.
See, there's deep meaning in Pyrex.
Your pal,
Erin
So cute! I have a bunch of old Pyrex bowls - I love them because they are so useful, practical, whimsical and colorful!
I am in love with your pick dishes! I have never seen anything so pretty to cook in! How special that they belonged to your grandma and now you get to cherish them and the memories!
We are getting the same snowy and windy weather..wishing for spring!

I try really hard not to be a jealous person, but right now I'm being a REALLY REALLY jealous person ;)
I love how you have them all displayed too, I think if Spring doesn't think that's a good reason to show up then I don't know what would be!
Such a pretty display of pyrex and you have so many! But to have some from your grandmother is the best.
This post totally struck a chord for me...my favourite piece is a blue 401 (from an older Primary set) that my Nana gave me. It is really beaten up from years of use, but that's why I love it. Every time I look at it I think of all the things that she must have used it for. No amount of minty Pyrex from Ebay can compare to that history.
I love these pink dishes! What a happy display! And that star dish is a one of a kind find :) thanks so much for sharing!
Happy VTT a little late :)
WOW!!! That's all I can say. As well as "How can anyone possibly find as much fab matching pyrex as you"???
It really warms my heart that your Gran loved delphite... just like you!
Oh what a gorgeous pink collection and how lucky to get such a great new addition from your gran! :) Drooling over here!
