I think what Dan hates about the Goodwill is the smell of poverty: Not that clean, not spring fresh, with a lingering scent of grease and tobacco. What can I say? I'll brave pretty much everything for the lure of Pyrex and a good deal! LOL

If I'd win the lottery (6/49 for my canadians friends or the SuperBall for my american friends) I would not quit thrifting, naynay, no siree bob! I would buy a mini van and thrift FULL TIME!

And let's face it Dan loves a good deal too. We were in an antique mall in Brockville when I heard the sweet music of thrifting love and I heard: Just how much do they sell a new roof shovel for? This one is 20$. Next thing I knew the guy pocketed 15$ and the shovel was in the car with all its extentions.

Yep just like that In case you're wondering retail it's 50$ plus tax.

Ok now for the Pyrex that didn't make the cut!

I got a casserole in Maine and that was enough.

Besides this was not in very good condition!

24$ each, I rest my case!

I'd like to introduce a new friend, not yet an official pet. We call him Piccolo Nero and he just hangs around the house and looks famished. Dam draged him inside yesterdat 'coz he was covered with freezing rain. We dried him off, fed him and he played and napped, finally he went back outside only when he passed Dan's dry test.

Pyrex Joy and more....

It was a fantastic trip! We laughed, ate, shopped, walked, ate some more, napped, had snacks, saw the sights, thrifted, ate some more, swam, read and finnally ate some more. Let's just say that I'm done with fried whatever for quite some time! But boy was it ever good!

Speaking of thrifting....

 I've always bitched that thrift shops are a rare sight in coastal NH, well hello there! This Early American casserole was waiting for me.

Another added treat....A brand spanking new Salvation Army in Portsmouth! And guess what came home with me?

A 045 Promotional Casserole Hearts with warmer. The warmer rack was and still is soooo greasy sticky even after a good scrubbing....EEEWWWW!

  2 restaurant ware cups with dark turquoise bands and a darn I never remember the name of this one, I know it's not turquoise fern and Laurel is the red one....oh well!

Look at the logo! Strategic Air Command. See even military eat in Pyrex!

This is my favorite find? This avocado and turquoise mug (I've been aching for some for a while now....)

If I'd been a beginner collector our truck would have been filled to full capacity with Pyrex, but since I have soooo much (as Dan likes to remind me...lol)

I did find other stuff and I'll blog about it tomorrow. A hint? Think atomic! ATOMIC! whoohoo!

Pyrex Finds

What a fun weekend that was! On the way down we hit 3 boring garage sales and 2 fleas. Needless to say the little green un-marked graduated Pyrex bowl was gone...oh well! You snooze,you loose!

I did find 2 things but I haven't cleaned them yet....I was too busy installing the air conditionner and washing these....

 

I found those at Cliff's flea market in Scarborough, Maine on Sunday. I was a bit down because I didn't find any Pyrex on the way down (except some Early American, tons of it! Early American lovers rejoice!)

Dan assured me I was going to find something GOOD that day! Boy oh Boy that sure was a statement!

I first came across the Atlas jar with a milk glass insert (In case you didn't know I also have a thing for vintage Mason jars...It's called Jarosis) and just had to have it. Then I saw that cute Pastel Stripes bowl that I've been looking for for nearly a year now; I kept seeing it in Ebay and Etsy for around 15$ to 20$ plus shipping....So I was real happy to shell out 7.50$! A couple of booths farther I was attacked by thie adorable Flamingo Party Pan for 2.75$, I just had to bring it home....

Here's a closeup of the milk glass insert. The Atlas jars were in fact made by Hazel Atlas.

 

Also at Cliff's I found the smaller Gooseberry casserole....On Monday we decided to go to York Beach and drove by the BoMar flea in Wells. There I found the pink Gosseberry casserole. It was 12$ and I decided to skip it. Dan asked me if I was sure I wasn't gonna take it and if I was gonna moan and whine about it back home....LOL! somebody knows me soooo well! So I went back to pick it up and lo and behold everything was 50% off! Cool! With lid! And minty too!

Look how cute the triplets look!

Gotta go! This is pool girl's time of the year too! Must remove leaves this morning!

Cliff's Antiques

Sometimes I find that I'm lacking inspiration...It's not that I have nothing to write....but I doubt the interestingness of it all.

I would like to thank some of my blogger friends CSM (Crazy Suburban Mom) http://www.crazysuburbanmom.com/ and Erin at http://torontoyardsaler.blogspot.com/ for mentionning my blog. It's always nice to realize that actual people read what I write! There's always the hit counter but....Speaking of the hit counter, it freaked out this week and went from 4000 something to more than 11,000!!! What the???

Ok now for the real reason for this post: Cliff's antiques! Situated on rte 1 in Scarborough Maine, my father refers to it as the dirty flea market. Dirtier than the one in Oxford (the Undercover flea market). So this year it was really funny 'coz Dad kept saying: You know, it is much cleaner than I remember!

2 Yeard ago I scored some of my first Pyrex. The big yellow 404 from the Primary set 6$, my Butterprint frigie set (minus one small one) only 10$ and a Blue Snowflake casserole with decorated lid 7$. Last year Dad got me the very now famous Mad Men casserole (space saver) green with the gold wheat. So of course I had HIGH expectations from this place....

I find that since I now have quite the collection, the missing pieces are harder to find! And this year it felt like someone sucked all the good Pyrex from Maine!

So I was quite sick of seeing all that Verde and Old Orchard! LOL

So I found the Old Town creamer 1$ and hiding inside another bowl, the Square Flower Green 402 1$. I was really happy to find these so cheap. Dad got me the Early American fridgie. The cat on the side looks just like Bob (my big hunter).

Dan got the bourbon glass for a cool 1$

This morning we painted the front porch and it looks so much better! This afternoon more basement cleaning!
