Surprise Thrifting

On Saturday there wasn't any plans for thrifting. We just went to Dan's daughther's place to measure windows and figure out what we needed to repair a wall and paint.

But I had to stop at Renaissance! Just so you know the weirdos from Thrusday night were all there on Saturday afternoon.

The employees are in the weirdo category as well...There's the lady that runs after you in the store to leave your bag at the cash (Heck the person that steels a $2 dollar shirt really needs it) and the cashiers that don't understand the cash register and the manager from France who knows everything and won't hesitate to correct your french. LOVELY!

I found the Butterfly Gold butterdish at Renaissance.
the Oxo mug I found somewhere else....

On our way back, Dan saw a giant sign advertizing a garage sale. This sale was amazing! It is the once a year unbelievable sale. It was in a hardware store that closed in the 80's judging by the merchandise.

Dead stock Androck utensils made in Canada.

A dead stock orange Thermos
and 2 lovely Federal bowls with green flowers.

 And a tackylicious Mushroom trivet

I still don't know what will stay and what will go in the Etsy store
Of course I still think about stuff I left behind...
There was so much! I could've gone every day for a week and buy stuff everyday.
But it was late in the day and the place is far from home so I got stuff that grabbed me.

Be well and keep thrifting friends!

Oh My!

Last friday when I came home from work I had a HUGE surprise!

Dan, who was on stayccation, did a bit of redecorating in the living room....

Living room before....

Living room after!!!

The wallpaper is like a faux bamboo weave, with floating shelves and little milkglass tumblers that
we use as votive holders.
I really like the way our atomic lamps look. I still need to rewire them!

But that is for a rainy weekend after noon!

I was speechless for a good 5 minutes! I had no idea this was going down!
Imagine all the hiding, the little white lying, the running around so I wouldn't find out!

That was one of the most thoughtful gift I've ever had.

Thank you Dan, you're the BESTEST! I love it and every time I go in that room I'm blown away!

Well that's it for now folks, I have tons of housework to do.

Later alligators :)

I would NEVER thrift this

I always enjoy myself whenever I visit all my fave blogs and very often I burst out laughing! On a recent visit to Erin's blog Yard Sale Snoop , she wrote about stuff she wouldn't thrift and it was hilarious!

Yesterday on a surprise thrifting trip I saw this....

And it comes with all the attachements! I was really excited to see this and at the same time totally grossed out!

We know it has been other places than her face, right ladies?
I'm pretty sure Betty Draper would've wanted one...It might've given her a smile!
So I would NEVER,EVER,EVER thrift this! NEVER!

We did break one of our never thrift rules...We actually bought this sofa! It is beautiful, vintagy and we saw a brand new one in a furniture store flyer for 1800$, we bought this one for 85$. Unfortunately I had no space to take the pic, so you don't see the legs. I'm not worried about cooties,we don't have an epidemic here.
This thrift store is a treasure throve of deliciousness. When I find the bill with the name on it I'll write a post about the other stuff I saw there. And the owner is really nice!

Later faithfull readers!
