Surprise Thrifting

On Saturday there wasn't any plans for thrifting. We just went to Dan's daughther's place to measure windows and figure out what we needed to repair a wall and paint.

But I had to stop at Renaissance! Just so you know the weirdos from Thrusday night were all there on Saturday afternoon.

The employees are in the weirdo category as well...There's the lady that runs after you in the store to leave your bag at the cash (Heck the person that steels a $2 dollar shirt really needs it) and the cashiers that don't understand the cash register and the manager from France who knows everything and won't hesitate to correct your french. LOVELY!

I found the Butterfly Gold butterdish at Renaissance.
the Oxo mug I found somewhere else....

On our way back, Dan saw a giant sign advertizing a garage sale. This sale was amazing! It is the once a year unbelievable sale. It was in a hardware store that closed in the 80's judging by the merchandise.

Dead stock Androck utensils made in Canada.

A dead stock orange Thermos
and 2 lovely Federal bowls with green flowers.

 And a tackylicious Mushroom trivet

I still don't know what will stay and what will go in the Etsy store
Of course I still think about stuff I left behind...
There was so much! I could've gone every day for a week and buy stuff everyday.
But it was late in the day and the place is far from home so I got stuff that grabbed me.

Be well and keep thrifting friends!

T and B

Rest assured Pyrex fans this is not a naughty phrase!

This actually stands for Turquoise and Butterprint. Now these are amongst my fave patterns so I need to keep them handy!

Did I mention that I have Pyrex in the kitchen, the dining room, living room , basement, hall, garden shed, bedrooms and bathroom. This means EVERYWHERE!

So since I'm taking pictures of my Pyrex, it seems a good time to take inventory and rediscover forgotten pieces...

This is the new display in my kitchen.

I love having the Pyrex right there so i can use them all the time!

Butterprint refrigerator set and butter dish

Now I got the fridgie set in Maine in 2007, minus one small one for 10$
It was Dan who spotted it.

The Cinderella set was a gift from Dad (the original Pyrex soldier)
and so was the carafe. The carafe came from a thrift store near my Dad's house
that reeks of cigarettes REAL BAD! I often find things there but I have problems get rid of the smell on me!

Now I was really psyched and inspired by the Pyrex pic challenge!!!

I started cleaning my big wod armoire to `find` some lost Pyrex and some other stuff.
I'm the kind of person who opens a drawer and just stuffs things in it; so I need to clean every couple of months just to find important papers.

By the way Dan is just the same....LOL!

Have a great night

I'll be up bright and early and doing some cool Pyrex inventory!

VTT: Pyrex Butter Dishes

Merry VTT to everybody!
I decided to post earlier this week. Something about the early bird...You know!
So today it's about the Pyrex butterdishes. I was so sure I had 8 of them. I looked and looked and turns out I only have 7. They only made 7.
They all were manufactured in the late 60's- early 70's. The patterns are (from the first pic) clockwise left to right: Old Town Blue, Snowflake Blue, Spring Blossom Green, Woodland,
Autumn Harvest, Butterfly Gold, and the classic Butterprint.
Do you remember when I wrote that my interest in Pyrex keeps changing?
Well The butterdishes are the perfect example! I had no interest for them until I realised the bowls were taking over the house...So I needed to find smaller pieces...Hence the butterdishes!
I love having one on my kitchen counter filled with a stick of glorious butter goodness! YUM!

Pay it forward

Last week, while watching delicious pictures of Pyrex on Flickr, I noticed that one of my Flickr contacts had bought a 502 refrigerator dish without the lid. This is quite common because the lids get separated or broken…

A couple of hours later, I remembered that I had a stand alone lid and so I thought why not offer it to her and bring a smile to her face? So I wrote her and she happily took it.

Same afternoon, I wrote an ebay seller to inquire about shipping charges for a Pyrex butter dish (snowflake blue), got my answer but forgot about the auction and didn’t bid and the auction closed (no one got the butter dish)….So I wrote the seller asking if I could purchase the dish in a Buy it now mode-staying legit with Ebay rules.

Well the seller answered: Are you the same Vonlipi from the Pyrex Love flickr group? I really enjoy your pictures! Why don’t you give me your mailing address and I’ll send it to you! It’s on me.

Okay how nice is that? I nearly cried. I was so touched by this gesture. Touched that this nice stranger not only liked my photos, but she would out of the goodness of her heart send me this beautiful piece of Pyrex!

It certainly solidifies my faith in mankind especially in these tough times. It is great that you spread love and good vibes around. It will come back to you for sure. Gallons and buckets and oodles of good karma.

Thank you Lori

I will never forget your kindness
