Tuesday's finds

It was very cold ,humid and grey last Tuesday in Montreal...Brrrrr!

I saw the same characters as I usually do...Don't ask me why, but the bulk of Salvation army shoppers I see are the same old chronies...lol

Anyways I found a 4 cup Pyrex Flameware coffee pot (without the insides), 2 Corelle saucer for the kitties and a Better homes and Garden book "Favorite ways with chicken" Those pictures are really funny today back in 1967 they were probably very chic and elegant! Ooohlala!!!
My Etsy boutique keeps me busy and non-vintage items I list on Ebay...Must clean the house!!! I made my first etsy sale Saturday and I was very excited! I hope I sell more things soon...:) This afternoon I will install my printer and try to scan things and print. I need to post some of those beautiful chicken pictures...lol

Idid it, I did it

I opened my own etsy shop!

It took me quite a while, but finally it's opened. I do need a place to send my overstock...If you know what I mean?

My shop will feature vintage linens, glass, pottery as well as vintage and handmade jewelry!

I will add many other items as time goes by, especially jewelry!

Belated Salvation army post

Better late than never!!!

First of all this is the Pittsburg souvenir tray. I got it after a flickr member expressed an interest in it..It is already on it's way to the Pittsburg area. How cool is that?

Next I got this swatch of beautiful psychadelic shocking pink and orange fabric for 1.50$. I also found parts of Pyrex...A handle for Flameware (the set came with 3 pots and just one handle..can you see something wrong with this picture???) I mean when your pot is on the stove with a handle the heat makes it swell and you can't remove the handle....So multiple handles are a MUST if you have flameware! And lo and behold a double boiler lid for my Dad, he had the bottom, I gave him the insert and finally the set will be complete....fantastic

I need to talk about the Salvation Army personnel...They're a bunch of characters allright!!! But I must say Hi to a special cashier, I don't know her name yet, but everytime a price is missing on your items she just yells 25 cents!!! How cool is that!!! That is what I paid for the double boiler lid and the Flameware Handle! WOW! Thank you anonymous Salvation Army Cashier! Thank you!!!

On this very strange American election day, I feel very nostalgic and sad...I don't really know why

Maybe it is because everyday I close the garden more, maybe because i know that whatever the results of today's election my country will be affected by them....

Of course my blog is not supposed to be a forum for my political opinions, but I feel that sometimes the american goverment is bullying my goverment.... That for sure won't bring anymore positive comments on my blog...LOL

I was too lazy to take pictures of last week's loot at the salvation army.

I mailed a souvenir tray to the pittsburg region before I could photograph it and 2 items I found will be a small gift for Dad so I can't post a picture( he actually reads my blog...). Suddenly I started being more and more interested in vintage fabric...my dad says I have very powerful and strange genes!!!

I will try to post a picture 2 morrow after I come back from the church basement. And tonite, I cannot bear to watch the election, it stresses me too much...I will remove caulk from around my tub and my kitchen sink!

Church bazaar

Every year before Halloween the church near my house hosts its annual bazaar in the nearby school gym. I usually go there to purchase Phentex slippers (because they las forever!!!). Las year I found a small red refrigerator dish (sans lid ) for a quarter...So I was very hopeful for this year!

Well my optimism paid off! On your left is a picture of my loot.

4 Corelle saucers with Flamingo trim (for the kitties), 2 Glasbake custard cups, 1 Pink daisy 1 1/2 QT casserole with lid and a small McCoy violet planter for 2.50$. Imagine that!!!

It is a wonder I manage to find these treasures in a sea of people...It was soooo warm ( I was sweating from places a lady doesn't sweat from lol) and I was pushed and shoved and pulled in all directions. When I saw the casserole it was as is time stood still...there was silence and then I saw it, just standing there minding its own business....

Same with the McCoy. I just say to myself (aproaching the home decor table) wouldn't it be fun if I found a McCoy? Well ladida, I should play the lottery more often!!!

The pot just appeared before my eyes....I also managed to break 3 or 4 glasses with the lid of a Pyrex teapot (oops) they made me pick all the glass from the box (ouf!) but nobody was hurt!

I had a wonderful cupcake with white and turquoise icing (but I didn't manage to take a picture of it, I inhaled that cupcake...hihihi)

There was stuff for everyone and you could even have a hearty lunch for 3 dollars (sandwich, chips, soup, coffee and dessert).

After all that excitement I walked home with SO (significant other) while pulling my trusty buggy (just like in Brimfield Mass)....

I would like to give a shout out to my dad: Hi Dad! have a good day :)!!!

Salvation Army Tuesday

I didn't find any Pyrex, but that was expected because I have been having a lot of luck lately....Nevertheless this is what I found! A double boiler insert from Wearever to replace the one I had (It was all banged up and the lid didn't fit anymore...) for 2.99.

An uncandle glass (pyrex) for .39 cents (I gonna use that as a vase) and a Xmas kitchen towel (New with tags) for .29 cents. So a satisfying experience over all. It was good to go back to the Salvation Army, I had missed it terribly and I looooove de chase! The expectancy, the 'I might find a treasure' fealing...It is priceless!

Grey Day

Fall brings us really beautiful images...Like the wonderful sunrise I was lucky enough to see this morning.I was hoping for a gorgeous day like yesterday, but instead I got cold, humid and grey...Brrrrrrr
Even the cats don't want to go outside! I was able to tie up a lot of loose ends like rake some leaves (again???), finish closing the pool, taking a walk and continue to prepare the borders for winter. I even harvested the Jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes) I stayed outside 3 1/2 hours and it was time for a break!
So now I am inside witha lot less energy, LOL!
I am looking forward to my city outing tomorrow...Salvation army here I come!
The second picture is of the sunchokes in an antique egg basket, in case you had never seen any.
It is an heirloom vegetable and is native to North America, it was, at one point called Canada potato.
