Seen Around

Last Saturday there was a vintage church basement sale in Montreal.

I told Dan about it and he said I wanna go!

So off we went!

Let's start of with a declaration!
I need a plastic ottoman with plastic flowers in it!
That is seriously sweet!

 I do love a spaghetti lamp....but I had 2 in my apartment.

Canisters are always a fave of mine....

I have no idea why I took this picture....lol
I was tempted by these milk
pitchers, however I felt they were too expensive

 I should've grabbed this ashtray...but I did not
and it was only $5
Oh well live and learn...

This is what I came home with.
a Pyrex Citrus Daisy loaf pan and 2 cool glasses.

We really had fun but were really glad to come home!

Sleep tight!

All Good

So we went and picked up Dan and brought him home......

Everyone is happy.

we are now embarked in the low sodium, low fat, low sugar lifestyle adventure.

After while Dan was enjoying the conforts of home (remote control), we ran some errands and stopped at a church basement vintage sale!

Vintage is my crack....and I got so excited that I didn't even take pictures!

And I spied from afar....can it be? Are my eyes deceiving me?

I just wanted to push people out of the way! OUT OF MY WAY YOU FOOLS! The great Baroness Vonlipi must get closer, must confirm.....

Heck I felt like Indiana Jones on the cusp of a great discovery!

I have looking for this glorious casserole for quite a while now....
The 4 quart Charcoal Snowflake in all its glory!
I have been looking for this one for a good 8 years....
Yes I did see some on Ebay but either shipping was too expensive or
they didn't ship to Canada!

this was what I saw on Friday morning when i went to
go to work.....Yikes and freezing cold too!

For supper I am fixing turkey sacllopinis, broccoli and marinated mushrooms.
(all low sodium.....no animal fat......all good)

Stay warm and stay safe!

Oh My!

You know how it is...the end of November and beginning of December has been....work,home,sleep and a bit of Xmas shopping squeezed in between!

When we moved back in late August Dan was oh so sure that we were going to watch tv late on weekdays since we didn't have to wake up at 4:45 am to catch the train.

Well it isn't exactly going as declared because I fall asleep around 9:30 compared to 10:00 before...oh well!

Dan finished the oven surround and it was declared perfect by the installer! So Thursday I celebrated by baking some Pillsbury pumpkin pie spice cookies that were purchased on deep discount.

The new oven is a dream....I can't wait to really bake.

I was soooo happy it was one of the best days of my life!
I felt handicapped without a working oven.

Love that the light comes on when you open the door.

On another note....
I went to a church basement vintage sale.
I had no idea what it was...
Well I was sure I died and went to vintage heaven!

I had no idea this existed in Montreal
Pyrex, Fireking, Tupperware,Glasbake....
ALL VINTAGE!

I was so happy to look at all these treasures.

It was full of vintage lovers....and so glorious.
The sales are held regularly.
I will be there next time!

On a different note....

Friday night, I went thrifting and spotted the Santa coin bank which I bought rather quickly.

I then went on my merry way, I heard Dan's voice tell me: Are you going to regret
not buying the candles? YES!!!

So I went back in the thrift and told them : I am sorry but I have no choice, I must buy the candles....
And the owner shaved a couple of bucks from them.

Not the cheapest, but since the lot was under $15, I say yes to the joy of
Xmas blowmolds!

We started working on interior Xmas decorations
Blowmolds and Department 56 Original Snow Village and Dickens Village

Win Win decor win!

Sleep tight!

Seen Around

Seems I haven't done one of these posts in a very long time!

Wednesday I went for my annual lung check up and not only I spotted a church basement sale nearby but I found the charity shop I could not locate last year!

Schwing!

I did not buy ANYTHING, but it sure made for a thrifting adventure!

Yes this is a brand new dragon made of shells.

This lamp sure would be an ice breaker

New in box holy trinity clock.
Now I am thinking that they were donated inventory
from a Chinese gift shop

This sweet casserole did not have any markings

I would've snapped up this delicious fondue pot if my cupboards
were bare....sigh!
These tacky glass souvenir mugs always crack me up!

I knew it was just a matter of time until I saw this in a thrift store.
The chocolate fountain is fun, but how often are you going to use it?
I figure the clean up must be an adventure as well.

This is something I don't think I could buy in a thrift shop...

Herb tea!

No thank you

The church basement was very cramped with bossy volunteers. I was scared to take pictures....

Oh well

This is just the beginning of the fall bazaar/church basement season!

CHARGE!!!

More awesome goodies!

So everything is progressing along for the move.

In the meantime here are the other things (TREASURES) I found in the church basement....

A Frontier Town metal tray . I wish I had known about this place or any vintage
amusement park when I was a kid...We didn't have a car and amusement parks                                           were basically verboten....
And it is from the Adirondacks....I love going there!

I also have a deep love for paint by numbers art.
So when I saw this matching pair of egrets beauty's
                                                     I was hooked!
I think they will look smashing in my new bedroom!

On move related news...Dan believes we have 300 boxes...SAY WHAT????? Even with the Pyrex
             I don't think we have over 200...

             I  'll keep you posted!

Winterish

I had a study day today to study and prepare for an insurance exam.

I was up at the crack of dawn (as usual) to prepare for Dan's day and my own. Hey I figure if Dan's morning goes smoothly, then I can go on with my business!

So at 6:30 am I was sitting in front of the computer ready to learn......I learned a lot of things relevant to my job....But it seemed to go on forever!

I took a break to walk....walk to my fave wednesday morning destination!

The church basement!

As you can see it is Winter here. We have snow ad the river is
                                starting to freeze

The air was so crisp and delicious!

I saw this tackylicous vintage carpet on a very un-vintage house.
And I thought of my friend Josée who got something similar in a job gift exchange.

I couldn't get closer because there was a car in the driveway and a lady in the kitchen!

The Xmas table in the church basement was pathetic.....

But there's always next time!

S-C-O-R-E!!!

There are a lot of rummage/church basement/craft sales at this time of year.

The Montreal Gazette publishes a list every October so fans can plan their thrifting outtings.

So I had a couple of sales planned for last friday. The wind was really bad in the Montreal region and flashing was flying, signs were rattling and walking was precarious!

The first church sale had mostly crafts and baked goods, I bought lemon cake , pepper jelly and a crocheted mouse for the kitties.

Second church had been a personnal holy grail for me as I bought my first piece of Delphite there; a 502 fridgie for $2;  about 23 years ago.....

So I was ready for more! After being rattled and shaken by the crazy wind... I made my way to the basement and I could've sworn I hear the Pyrex angels playing harp and singing!

A nearly new Tree of Life Pyrex Promo Casserole!
It seems that the real name is really Saxony
which in my opinion is not as nice....
The condition is great and it $6.00 !!!

It is so nice to find a piece I don't have :)

Time for me to go beddy bye

                                      Sleep tight!

Letting go

Well this is spring cleaning time and we're going full throttle!

We changed home insurance and they are sending an inspector for a risk assessment (oh joy oh bliss)

so we'd better clean up the basement FAST!

It was a hard decision but I decided to let go of some Pyrex...Yep, culling the Pyrex.

Here's what i'm letting go so far

An Old Orchard bowl set. I'm happy to say that my SIL Johanne adopted them right away!

                                A Woodlands bowl set

A Promo Hearts casserole with warmer

A Golden Acorn divided dish

I've texted my cousins but I'm doubtful they will adopt

I won't be putting them in the shop because people will be reluctant to pay the hight shipping for those heavy pieces.
There are no flea markets renting booths in my area and I don't feel like keeping them for a garage sale....

So in case you want them, I'm giving them away but you'll need to pay the shipping.

Otherwise they will be headed to my friendly neighborhood church basement.

Deciding to let go feels amazing!

Thrifted!

It was so good to smell the slightly stale moth ball tainted air of the church basement....

It makes me feel so alive (yes I can hear you, crazy as a bat, I am)

So this is what I found....

Needlepoint seacoast
Judging by the frame, it's circa 1960.

I'm thinking of re-doing my bedroom this coming Spring in a vintage beachy cottage theme; so
it will fit perfectly!

Xmas Joy!

I don't get to go to my super fine church basement every week because of work ans when I can well it's dark. I must admit I'm kinda of afraid of the dark i.e: walking alone at night....mind you it's only 7 pm but I'm still scaredy.

Last weekend I decide I would go on my trusty bike.  That freaked me out too, I'm actually afraid of being struck by a car....I woke up in sweats last night because of this.

This morning I just couldn't believe I was so scared, I decided it was high time I kicked myself in the butt and hop on the bike.

Well I did and when I got there the good lady (not the pink lady...this one is called Joan and she sells vintage Tupperware; I've had the pleasure to help her out quite a bit at the Postal Counter OF UNJOY!) greeted me with: Oh good you're here we're just setting up our Xmas table!

Well, well that was mighty nice of them!

I couldn't resist and brought this home...

How cute is that? and for a dollar! I love you church basement!

Thank you Joan!

Thriftastic Day! Part One

Yes this is part one, because we were too tired to empty the entire trunk, as in car trunk.

I was up bright and early, i.e 6:00 am because I was sooooo excited about a big demolition sale at Beaurepaire United Church. We got there at 9:10.

I was unbelivably disapointed ;some little old lady know it all had decided to sell things at market price not at church basement prices. So the prices were C-R-A-Z-Y! 2 dollars for a wood hanger! PLEASE!

I spotted this poor little guy all by his lonesome....

It had a 5$ sticker on the dish and a 1$ sticker on the lid and it was chipped.
Unless they changed their price policy later I don't think they sold a lot...
I heard a lot of comments about the prices.

After we went garage saleing and I was totally giddy when I spotted these...

If you've been folowing for a while you know that I love Yankee Candles! Except the price of course!

The larger one is 29.99 retail here and the other is 24.99. That is nearly 55$ of heavenly scents. I paid 1.50$ for both, how is that for thrifty?
Both are brand new, never been used! SWEET!

It's getting a bit late so I want share one last find you and it's a doozy.

A delicious splashproof red apple Fireking bowl that will be listed in the store shortly. How cool is that?

See you soon for more thrifty goodness from that enchanted saturday!

It's raining.....

It was raining Xmas blowmolds! In the first 10 minutes at the totally crazy church basement sale we found these!

The penguins are so cute! They remind me of Pinotte my tuxedo cat.

See?

In the same batch I also got these

These citrusy mugs

This AMAZING cookie tin

I also got a batch of vintage wrapping paper (Xmas) from Regal- Does that ring a bell to my canadian readers? i loved Regal (Primes de Luxe) I was sooo sad when they closed!

I also got some appetizer forks, a milk glass tumbler and some Phentex slippers (new).
We saw some Pyrex, but nothing really interesting

We had a ton of fun even if we didn't buy as much as last year. That is really what I love from these sales, you never know what you'll find!

Have a cool evening! :)

It really was a.....

A big old squirrel dead in the pool and it was removed this morning while I was happily balancing spreadsheets. And the motor ran for a bout 3 hours, but it seems I need to do a backwash....Slowly but surely!

Now I won't be working on the pool or in the yard for that matter....Because we'll be getting up bright and early to go here....

Ok this is where I'm very disapointed because I was so sure I'd taken some pics while we dropped a car full of stuff earlier this week.... But alas.....I didn't

We will be heading west near Les Coteaux to a huge church basement sale then on to Ontario. We hope to push until Gananoque. We will be packing a lunch and refreshments... and we'll be sure to stop for plenty of coffee along the way (Thank God you're never too far away from a Tim Horton's here in Canada!)

We hope to find some of these...

and maybe one of these...

Wish us good luck!

Oh I'm wishing for some Pyrex too! Even a little something in Jadeite!

Woohoo! Excellent Day!

Yesterday morning it was raining cats and dogs, but that was not enough to stop me from going to the church basement. I had been promised a Xmas table afterall...and had to bring stuff in.

So I hopped on my trusty bike, it's just a short ride!

When the pink lady (she's always dressed in pink) told me a Xmas table had been set in the back, I just flew there! OMG the hopes of finding vintage glory! Here's what I found:

                                                    Isn't he cuuuuutttttte?

Look at that face! You just want to squeeze it! LOL

I also found these uglies oops sorry cuties! The little house was probably a cake decoration.

If I'd shown these to my mom she'd probably have an aneuvrism
But I love them!

I'm guessing this is a version of  Bonhomme Carnaval. Bohomme Carnaval is the mascot of the very famous Québec city Carnaval held each year in February. It lasts 2 weeks and it's the frozen version of Mardi Gras.

Again I find myself wishing for a BIG house with lots of rooms....One room near the kitchen where all the Pyrex is exposed ,one room just to keep all the Xmas decor, one room where I could have the Dept 56 Original Snow Village and Dicken's Village displayed year round and a loooong console table where I could display my collection of light up Santas. Ok so it's just a dream, I have this small cozy house that is already bursting at the seems....Bummer! LOL
So The Santa is listed in the shop and i'll be keeping the Xmas cuties for my tree!

I was surprised to read an email this morning telling me my blog is part of  Top 50 Blogs for Yard Sale Aficionados.
