Bye, Bye Old Friend!

Well it had to happen sooner or later....All the signs were there! The uneven cooking ,the low temp, the difficulty lighting up....

Yep the grill was done, over, finished!!! It was not a high tech, state of the art, expensive grill....We didn't need one. We just wanted something to grill some steaks....We had gotten this little guy for under 100$ about 6 years ago and it even had a side burner! I made a lot of home fries on that burner and a lot of bacon! Nothing says weekend breakfast like bacon cooked outside! NOTHING!

Last September a big tree branch fell on the shelf and bent it pretty bad.

Bad pic and rust! EEEWWWW!

And let's face it it won't stay lit! I light it go inside, go outside with the meat and the damn thing is off, cold as death :(
I love to just throw some meat on it for a quick supper! This one is going to the trash tomorrow....and I will buy a new one shortly (finances permitting!)

Oh and it's still raining here and there's nothing in the thrifts so I feel envious of all your fab finds!

I've seen BBQs at the thrift before. What do you think, would you get one used?

Yes, I am about to throw some rocks on the ground and put a metal grill over it to finally cook some steaks! My grill has never really worked the way I want it to. My Mom says it doesn't get hot enough, because it won't allow the grill part to get next to the flame. It's rainy here too, but good for the old garden!

Figures it would die just as BBQ season is upon us...well, at least that's what the calendar tells us, because it has been raining, pouring here too. Could it be that they're right about May 21st being the Apocalypse and you should be looking for a boat for the deluge instead of a BBQ?

You know there are freecycles in canada - you should go to the website and see if there is one kind of close and join?

I would get a vintage Webber round BBQ in a heartbeat (providing it is in perfect shape).

I find that BBQs age even faster than cars....I don't feel well about leftover cooked hamburgers stuck on the grill...eeeewwww! It's not like a piece of Pyrex that you can dip in bleach....

As for the Freecycles....Not yet in Quebec....
