Life goes on

Saturday we brought back the wheelchair as it is no longer needed.

that feels so good! We can move one from there, a new chapter begins.....

That took a big old five minute from my life!

i gently coaxed Veronica (my stepdaughter) to stop at a thrift store nearby...

And I am so glad I did!

By chance I found 3 things I love......

A car throw...100% wool and in great condition!
I very rarely turn down good condition blankets and throws.
They are always handy when you live in an old house in a cold climate!

 If you've been following
the blog for a while you might remember that I had an Etsy
shop and that I sold quite a few Le creuset snail dishes...
I have regretted this for a llllllooooooooonnnnnngggg time!
So I was super excited to find one for a dollar....I am sure I will find 3 other fairly soon.

so since I have being jonesing for snails with garlic butter I bought 4
stainless steel dishes for a dollar

It even says Le Creuset!

Last but not least as seen in the first picture, a Old Orchard Beach souvenir glass!
It is so tackylicious and I had to get it a total no brainer...
I got no flack from the boo because they are small items and Barware is always a go...
I am not the only one jonesing for some snails.....

On a more somber note....

yesterday January 28th marked the second anniversary of my Dad's death.
I had a long talk with him.
I miss him everyday and talk to him most everyday. The big heavy duty sadness is mostly gone, but I had an episode in late December.
What I do now is whatever thing I am doing that my Dad would enjoy...I think about him, or I chat with him.

So this is the beginning of my first year as a homeowner in Montreal.
I got my first municipal tax invoice today. Made calculations so we can pay them on time.
as much as I did not want to be a homeowner again....God decided otherwise and I will do my very best to honor him.

I am very excited as we made plans to paint and renovate (cheaply) one room at a time!

My faithful readers, take time to enjoy each day
and hang out with your loved one

Christmas Flea Market

Sunday December 4th there was a christmas flea market held in church basement not too far from my house.

I saw great displays!

Every glassware fanatic will swoon over this pic!

 Must buy vintage brooch !

The huge fur boa really reminds me of my mother

 Super cute display!

I am thinking I should start collecting piggy banks!!!

Or maybe Tiki glasses and cups!

I wish I had room to bring all these treasures home!

Lovely Barware!

I picked up this little guy. He's seen a lot of Christmases!
He's missing some paint but he still lights up and he is CUTE!

I will leave you with this picture of vintage and antique
ornaments that belonged to Dad.

Have a great day!

Hope to blog soon!

Where was I ?

                                 There was some Pyrex sightings....

More Pyrex? Yes siree bob!

Overpriced scrappy blowmolds

Fabulous glassware and

and amazing barware?

Well I was in Maine for a long weekend.

It was beautiful and restorative as usual.

It is was my soul needed.

I didn't buy anything in the pictures.

Nothing , nada. I did find some cool stuff but I can't seem to find it.

We arrived late on Tuesday night, I worked Wednesday and we are still not unpacked!

Oh well, things to do on the weekend!

I just couldn't help myself!!!

After work this afternoon I had the chance to go to Renaissance for a bit of thrift!

If you're a regular reader you probably remember how I have a love/hate relationship with that place....

The pickings are often of the slim kind!

But tonight with my eagle eye I was able to sink my thrifty claws in these treasures!

This crazy heatwave was momentarily side swept by these lovelies...
I know I made promises...no more exterior light bulbs....But how could I resist? Hoe could I resist Canadian Outdoor Lights????

Check out the funky shape!

I can't wait to try these! I got a whole bunch for $2.99.

If you know of a name for this disease please feel free to tell me!
I have a vintage ashtray sickness, we don't smoke. I love these!
I figure this one is for cigars.
It might go in the store.

And I kinda went nuts when I spotted this.....I knew Dan would love it.
 And I was right!

Which bar ware lover wouldn't want this beauty?
And just who is Richard?

This was a promo Jim Beam bottle from 1968

It will look great with the guys.

I also got a milk glass cup but it didn't look good on film, so that is for next time.

Thrifting is so much fun!

Now please send me some Pyrex....please,please,please! LOL

Have a good night and stay cool!

Thrift finds....

In the last week I was quite lucky to find these treasures....Some of them are now for sale in my Etsy boutique, some are for gifts...

For instance...take this handsome Bar pump (is there an official word for it????) Is a Xmas gift for Dan (who is into barware). I laughed sooo hard when I found this at The Salvation Army (I guess it's the pump...) I laughed for 2 days....I did go at night with some girlfriends after we had some wine....LOL!
On the same night I found this Hazel Atlas Ovide cream and sugar set...still bright and shiny!

The Royal Canadian Art Pottery mug is in top shape with both original tags...WoW! The tag from the manufacturer and the one from the store. It is deliciously tacky....
And what about the silver plate creamer? Delicious too lol! I love the shape...so retro!

last but not least a treasure from my church basement a super cute crab hand puppet...I shipped it as a Xmas gift to Ethan DND (do not destroy) the son of my flicker and etsy friend Mrs DoNotDestroy LOL. Not everyone embraces the concept of thrifting and recycling quite as much as Michelle (DND). So when I saw that crab, I thought of her son. I will be back soon because I need to tell you about the meatball stew (ragout de boulettes) and my visit to the Salvation Army 50% sale today!

Have a super night!
