Retro Tuesday: Snacks and Hors d'oeuvres

A beautiful Retro Tuesday to you!
Last saturday I found this retro gem at an estate sale in Hudson, Qc. The Snacks and Hors-d'oeuvres book of recipe cards by East and West cookery cards. Published in 1968 by Hamlyn House, The Centre,Feltham,Middlesex.
Of course the pictured grabed my retro imagination...

Assorted Hord D'Oeuvres

Check this spread out! YUM! Canned herrings, spanish salad, ham rolls..Orange juice...ORANGE JUICE!?! this is not my idea of a refreshing drink with appetizers!

Cheese Fiesta! Cheese boats, cheese sticks and cheese aigrettes (the aigrettes are really cream puffs with cheese inside). My mouth is watering!

Scotch Woodcok

At first I thought there was actually some kinda bird inside but it's really just bread, scrambled eggs and plenty of anchovies! Eggs and salty eyebrows, Yum!

Mac'n' cheese. I had no idea it was an appetizers, but a good snack ! And yes it's baked in a Pyrex Butterprint 503! How fab is that?

Retro Tuesday on a Wednesday....I was just plain LAZY!!!

Yesterday I was really, really lazy! I managed to do a couple of chores but had to kick my butt every step of the way!

We had a very full evening on Monday, we went to the vet and found a stray dog on the way back....I just went to sleep very late!

I found these postcards in a thrift shop for 10 cents a piece a couple of months ago....Of course I didn't need those postcards but I found them really funny.

I love the one with the little old lady who's obviously very proud of her house. All these dolls....folowing me with their little beady doll eyes! SCARY! well not really but I'm not a big fan od decorationg with dolls....It's just me.

Aaaaahhhh! the ripening of the cheese!

I would love to see this once in my life. Since these are all Holland postcards the cheese is probably Gouda or Edam (ooooh! better both!)

But the really big question is....do they really dress this way?

With my super vintage detecting power, I'm guessing that they're from the 70's...

Am I right? There is something about the colors....

And look at that big vat of milk.....Future cheese! YUM!

Cheese in a can with cat!

I remember very well, when I discovered Easy Cheese. I could not believe my eyes! Of course you could only find this in the States! It is part of the MAGIC of going there. I ate so much of this stuff the first years, it is a wonder I didn't turn into a can....

It is been more than 5 years since I had some, but I still find it funny and when I come across it in supermarkets I feel some kind of Nostalgia.

On the trifting front nothing much, I found a small 501 pre-50"s lid for .49 cents at the Salvation Army. I can't wait to do some serious trifting! Over the weekend I have a garage sale and a flea market on my list. I hope it won't rain! I will try to sell my Butterprint bowl set to a dealer. I have been trying to sell en Ebay for a couple of months and nothing!!! It seems to me at least, that summer is not a good time to sell Pyrex on Ebay. People used to trow themselves on Butterprint bowls...What happenned? Overload of pattern? Sick of Pyrex?
