Snow and thrifty goodness

This has been the year of the non-winter. The temperature has been mild and we've had more rain than snow. That is tragic for Québec!
We've had yesterday our first serious snow fall since I don't know when.....

It all fell very fast and in the space of 90 minutes we had 6 inches on the ground!
Thank god for the train.....

This morning we had a surprise thrifting stop....
I love those, don't you?

Here's some pics of things of interest and others....well you'll decide for yourself!

Are those adorable or what? I think they're salt cellars because of their size. Any ideas?

A cool 70's coffee set.

An imitation of our dining room chairs; cheap imitation mind you but I found it cool that it was a model popular enough to copy.

The wood floor lamp is how shall i put it hilarious! If I ever get a cabin in the woods it will probably be decorated in that oh so tacky style!

There was even a table lamp, YUM!

On the far left was a lamp that I really liked and Dan too, but just how many lamps do we need! We're running out of outlets!

Now let's be serious for a minute and see what we bought, not a lot.....

Some bamboo Florida souvenir coasters still in the original wrapper, 2 unused silicone spatulas (they were there last time I went and I regretted not getting them) and 2 glass furniture coasters; one is Hazel Atlas and the other one Diamond glass from Canada. We've tried the new ones in plastic and they leave dents in our floor but the glass ones don't.

I got the bamboo coasters because they're vintage, tacky, funny and we will use them
in the living room for the coffee table, it's wood and marks easily...

Well that's it for today; I'm off to the living room for some good old fashion couch potatoing!

I LOVE WEEKENDS!

Sweet Thrifty Finds

Since we have 6 mouths to feed now (Our cats plus Bambino and Piccolo Nero; the strays that come visit); I find that I'm constantly washing saucers so it was high time I head to the Salvation Army for some thrifty goodness.

I did ask the thrift Gods for some Corelle saucers, some Pyrex and cool stuff! Ans my wishes came through!

 8 Corelle saucers
A kick ass 502 Canadian Delphite fridgie
and a super cool vintage cheese cutter.

Everything was dirt cheap; the Pyres was .49 cents, SWEET! And all for me!

Yes I realize that this is my third Delphite 502; I just can't help myself..If I had to get rid of all the Pyrex i would keep the Delphite, I can't live without it, I guess it's the colour.

Have  a great night

Guess What?

Miracles do happen; some on a really, really small scale, You want proof? I'll give you proof!

2 weeks to the day I go back to the cafeteria where I lost my pants (yes I know this is funny and ridiculous; my friends still make fun of me) and lo and behold they are still on the shelf under the microwave!

Shows that people are honest? Or just don't care? Or the pants are ugly or worse FUGLY (fucking ugly)?

Anyways I'm really glad I found them and yes Dan was right; I basically bought the same pants...same color....same fit but the old ones had pockets in the back and the new ones have pockets in the front!

What can I say I love dark grey.

Now this is for my friend Tracy:

These dishes came in Flamingo, dove Grey, Lime and Turquoise. You could get those same colors with a gold band. If I find some more, I'll keep you in mind for sure.

About the pudding....well this is not my recipe, I've never made pudding from scratch. Jell-O pudding is one of the rare processed foods I buy. I like it because it's fast, thrifty, fat free and sugar free!

Ansd since Dan had some dental work done it was the perfect dessert for a quick snack. On top a dollop of Cool Whip ( Dan loves the stuff)

Well it's past my bedtime, so I must skeddadle! I hope to blog some more over the weekend.

Be well my friends :)

Happy St-Valentine's!

Who better to jazz up plain old butterscotch pudding than Pyrex?

How chic does that look?

I would've loved that as a kid!

Have a great evening every one :)

This is funny (embarrassing/stupid/hilarious)

As my regular readers might remember, I enjoy country line dancing and I have a class every Thursday night. We arrive early and eat our lunch in the cafeteria. After a leisurely supper and a game of majong on the Igadgets, I decided to change pants because I can’t dance in work pants, I find them too dorky and constrictive. Dan is on guard to make sure nobody walks in and let’s face it it takes about 2 minutes.

I always feel better in my jeans, they’re old and soft! When I finally get home tired, achy and sweaty I always unpack my bag....And that is when it hit me! I forgot my pants in the cafeteria! OMG how pea brained of me!

This morning I gathered all the courage I could and I called the hall where I left my pants and this bitchy receptionist told me they don’t keep anything, they don’t a lost and found, it’s not their policy yaddayaddayadda (yes I know this is annoying!). I finally hang up heartbroken , I need to buy new pants. That is a super BUMMER! I don’t know what I will be able to squeeze 40$ from.

Dan (ever the optimist) says I will find them next week. I hope so

Anyways every time I think of this I crack up, it is funny!

This week we had topsy turvy weather. Rain, snow, freezing rain all in one day. Some say it's the year of the un-winter because it's really mild and we don't have much snow for Québec. Me i'm against rain in winter, I need snow!
I must admir that frosted branches are real pretty!

Well that's it for me tonight....

Do you know where you're pants are???? LOL
