Rollercoaster

a couple of months ago my fur baby Yoda was diagnosed with arthritis in her hips and the vet asked us to think  about starting treatment....

Then we had the broken ankle and heart attack to worry about.....

Last Thursday we went to the vet, started the treatment and the vet suggested some blood work because with a diabetic cat...it is good to check once a year

Friday night we get the vet's call and it is not good news...her platelets are very very low. The vet wants to double check with another test. If it comes back super low again then she needs to be hospitalized in an emergency animal hospital because it is the weekend and our vet is closed on Sunday.
She will need round the clock care because she is at risk of spontaneous hemorrhages.

Can you imagine the shock I had? As much as we love her we both agreed that if this was the case, it was time to cross the rainbow bridge....

She's diabetic, has chronic diarrhea and arthritis we did not want her to suffer.

We cried a lot on Friday night. Saturday we bring the cat to the vet, they take blood and go back home. And we wait and we cry, we watch tv, we cry, we wait....

I needed comfort food bad! Here one of them is Kraft Diner or Kraft Mac'n'Cheese as it is call in the US. With ground beef, parsley and green onions....delicious

but that doesn't heal that big hole in my heart....

at 3:00 pm the phone rings, neither of us wants to answer it....yes it is the vet. Yoda's platelets are  450 not 20, they are perfectly normal! The lab messed up!!!

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? I felt such joy! A huge weight was lifted, I danced!

And then I felt really tired and a good long nap with Yoda!

Monday

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I probably have many, many times....

I AM SO GRATEFUL I CAN WORK FROM HOME! Thank you!

I give thanks for this and that Dan is still with us every single day...

I find myself sneaking up to him and checking if he is still breathing....I am so afraid that one time I will check and he will be blue.

What do you do after a heart attack? You are stressed that this will happen again.....You are aware of all the changes in behavior......you poke and probe....

of course they don't tell you everything...how is your body going to react with all these meds....what you can eat or not....just guidelines.....

how are all your close ones are going to react...I tell you some of them will have to step up to the plate BIG TIME!

So that was the Monday vibe...

Sleep tight!

Stress periods of 2012

Well most of my stress was reno induced. There were screams, sleepless nights, tears and much drama!

All coming from me! I had no idea what was happening and I wanted everything done immediately. If I'd had my way Dan would be constantly on the phone with the contractor!

That trench was soooo scary I was afraid I would forget, open the door and fall!
OUCH!

This totally got to me! And when Dan got onto the mini ladder it actually sank in the dirt sideways.

We couldn't open the front door and then we couldn't close it, Dan had to use chisels to carve a new hole for the bolt. Lord thank you for Dan, his ingenuity and tools, lotsa tools!

You can't do that to middle aged people! Of course if someone had put a rare piece of Pyrex on the mini ladder....

We are still enjoying and giving thanks for the new balcony every day.

We now need to choose a color to stain it.

Maybe espresso

Now we don't get water in the basement anymore; they had to install a sump pump (or is it sum pump, probably for sumbergible pump it is hard to understand when people mash french ,english and speed together)
It is the quietest thing around, I've never heard her run, but we see the water pouring out.

Now the dirt around the house is settling and going wonky. I can't wait for Spring so we can get people here to level everything (create a grade AWAY from the house) so we can sow some grass, build a new patio (or 2) and have a BBQ party for the families.

Apart from that the only BIG source of stress was the LOMA course (Life Office Management Association). It is a mandatory course for my insurance job.

I needed to suceed because it will lead to better pay and letters after my name (LOL)
Ad if I failed I had to pay for the course!
NO WAY JOSE!
