Big Garbage Friday: What my Neighbor Threw Out!

I just want to welcome my new followers; I hope you'll enjoy your visits! I haven't had time to check out your blogs because of my crazy schedule you know where....

Last night I was surprised to see a woman running with a wheelbarrow full of bags and stuff...She looked kinda familiar; i think it was my neighbor's sister. Between 2 trips; I checked out the pile 'o' crap....

Are those legs I see???

Hello dolly!

Magazine rack still with the eeewww magazines in.

This was one for hoarders for sure! there were bags and bags of old stuffed animals and uninteresting stuff in garbage bags.

Just then I remembered that a couple of years ago when I had mice, she had some too and she told me she didn't call the exterminator...She just picked up he mouse poo with a broom and stuffed the holes they came from with kleenex. KLEENEX??? In which parallel universe does she live?

So I kept my garbage poking to a minimum....Until I saw...and dragged them home...

Who can say no to a free plastic snowman who lights up and a funky weird but with potential coffee table?

NOT ME!!!

I gave the table a good cleaning and left it outside for the night. I'll clean Mr. Snowman later. I already found him a place for this winter!

Last few days to participate in my giveaway....Right HERE ! Please comment on that post for a chance to win some fun vintage and new stuff!

Have a great Friday! :)

Friday Mishmash

This week I got a really cool surprise in the mail.....

Yep! A good and generous soul sent this to little ol' me. I have no idea who did this wonderful act of generosity. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Last night I had to do something really, really hard. I had to throw away my favorite chair. It was old and stinky and not even vintage. Dan had told me the blue monster had to go....just thinking about it I felt a thightness in my chest....We had bought the blue chair and a matching sofa in 1998 after the big ice storm. You know the one...where a lot of people were without electricity for anywhere from 2 to more than 4 weeks in January.BRRR!
We were 11 days without power. Anyways when spring came we went to Sears Home and got a chair, a sofa and an area rug. Beautiful all of it...We the delivery guys came we found out that what looked ok in the showroom was GINORMOUS for our tiny living room.
The cats went to work on them right away. We had 6 cats at the time and their leader was OOCH. Ooch who claw the chair several times a day...The running gag was that the couch was all ripped up even before it was totally paid off!
Eventually we gave the couch to SD and her boyfriend who didn't have one but kept the chair.

It's big, blue, ugly, stinky and the most comfortable chair EVER. Dan felt it was soooo ugly and white trash looking that we had to wait until sundown to bring it out. I gave it a hug, I nearly cried.

This morning I went outside and took pics...

LOL! I'm happy it's gone come to think of it...The cats are looking for it. It was really stinky, no amount of Febreeze could remove that weird smell....cigarette smoke, dirt, cat ass....lol
Yep cigarette smoke stays with furniture 4 ever! The house has been smoke free for nearly 5 years now....

Ooohhh! An artistic close-up of the cat's damage

Well gotta go now, time to make the donuts! See you at the post office :)

Adventures in scavenging....

Yesterday was another big garbage day, so I grabbed my trusty buggy and went hunting!
The pickins were slim! Most of the folks had thrown away their stuff last week...There was a lot of butt ugly wall to wall carpet!
A note on last week's big trash: My neighbors had incredibly UGLY furniture! No wonder they were throwing it away!
How long does it take to break down melamine? Everybody goes on and on about plastic bags...but the melamine-Think about it! Press wood full of chemicals and plastic coating....Hum! Anyways I came across this super retro vintage lawn chair...It was so heavy-thank god for the buggy!
I haven't tried it yet...I'll keep you posted!
You still have time to leave a comment on the giveaway post! The draw is tomorrow! So far it has been a really humbling experience...either my blog is even less popular that I thought or everyone has a red fridgie ( I love that new to me word. fridgie! so happy!)
