Out Thrifting!

Do you know just how excited I am to write about thrifting?

My oh my! There was such a thrift drought!!!

Yesterday we were heading west bright and early....

I was out to kill 2 birds with one stone, at least! First thrifting, second a car ride, third Swiss Chalet !!!

Swiss Chalet was on my 2014 restaurant bucket list. It is a canadian rotisserie chicken chain that we had in Québec but along with Red Lobster, Ponderosa and Montana's they eventually packed up and left.

It seems that Quebecers are particular....Well I've been missing Swiss Chalet for quite a while and what passes as rotisserie chicken here; St-Hubert; just left me wanting....

The pitcher I found in Brockville.
The Un-Candles and the hand mixer in Gananoque
Cute cake Easter decor from Wilton
                                          And graduation cake decor!
                                          SWEET!
I was really excited to find the Un-Candles unsed in their original box with wicks and everything!
I have been wanting some since I was a kid. I emember the ads on tv.

Of course they didn't fit in my parents Classic/Napoleon/ Renaissance decor....so no Un-Candles

They were quite a steel at $2.00.

As for my lunch; the fries tasted just as I remembered and so was the sauce, the chicken was really tasty and so were the ribs (we shared).

So It is really hard for me to say and I might even be disowned as a bonified Quebecer but I prefer Swiss Chalet over St-Hubert bbq!!! Now I said it! Amen!

The plan was to take pictues before digging in!!!

Next post more pictures and stories from the road trip :)

Have a great Sunday night!!!

This is a good one!

We all love chicken recipes, it's a fact.

It is always the most requested recipes. I was watching a food show a couple of weeks ago, while cooking...It is what I do, LOL

The show was Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn. You will recognize her as one of Martha's slaves from Every Day Food.

The recipe that caught my eye was Lemon Thyme Chicken Paillards . I love paillards because the absorb marinade super fast and they cook even faster.

First time I made it I even shovelled the BBQ. It was fresh and sunny, just what the doctor ordered for this grey cold February. The next time I didn't flatten the chicken, but just cut it up in thin pieces, let them marinate and cooked them in a non-stick pan. It is delicious with the salad on top too!

I wanted to post this delightful recipe before but, I had a lot of problems finding the recipe on line, as Martha was overhauling her web site....Even today, I could not do a search and had to subscribe....I will be fooded by Martha info....inspiration as she calls it.

Now don't get me wrong, I was a huge Martha fan and am still a fan but some recipes I tried just weren't up to par and at the end it's the pushiness and know-it-all ness that got to me.

Plus we don't get her shows much in Québec anymore. We don't get the Hallmark channel

Plut please do try this delicious recipe you won't be disappointed!

Food truck Wednesday

I wish I could do a regular feature on Wednesday about food trucks but the thing is I never know in advance which one will be near my job.

Today I had 2 and I choose the Phoenix 1 truck, why you might ask?

2 reasons really: They serve sandwhiches on naan bread and they are considered an underdog.

They got less publicity than some of the others, they don't tweet much....

I left late...I was stuck at work with a case I had to finish....I arrived at 11:30 am fearing a line up.

There was none!

Black and pink, cool!

I had the tandoori chicken naanwhich

                                Sorry about the bluriness!
It was light yet filling, flavourful with a nice kick
Just what the doctor ordered in this crazy July heat.

My first but not my last!

Last week truck was fantastic but a once a month splurge calory wise, this I could get this every week!

I can't wait until they come near my job again!

Really???

When we went to Morrisburg, we had lunch in a lovely ; yet really old fashion chinese restaurant.

I ordered some Soo Guy chicken and I was really surprised when I got this....

I'm sorry I can't make the picture bigger..but here in Quebec, chicken Soo Guy doesn't come with gravy, it comes with cherry  sauce ON THE SIDE!

So this was definitely a weird dining experience for me!

This is what chicken Soo Guy looks to me...

Forget about a picture! I couln't find one on the internet and I never bothered taking one!

So hang in there and I will have a pic for you sooner than later!
