Pyrex Lovelies

Today was surely one of the most amazing days of the year! Let me explain.

We were full of energy, we were in a cleaning/fixing mood. We were up bright and early and got tons of things done!

Before I get to the details, I want to welcome my new followers! Welcome! If you love thrifting, vintage, Pyrex, glassware,lamps, Christmas, roadtrip,cats,gardening,eating local and food in general; well you're at the right place!

Now I decided to change the Pyrex displays so I had the opportunity to take pictures to share with you.

Let's start with Snowflake, i.e: Turquoise, White and Charcoal

Open bakers! I LOVE,LOVE these!

 

Why? Because they are not divided that's why!

I was also able to capture the Pink Daisy bunch hanging out.

Now the really important piece here is the 045, it belonged to my paternal grandmother Gran-Mimi.

 My Dad actually remembers it from the diner table!

 

It might have contained sheperd's pie or oven baked pasta.

 

Also smilig for the camera is the 043, the space saver (large) and the open baker.

 

Missing from shot ans quite shy is the smaller space saver.

 

I hope to charm it into posing tomorrow.

 

Now on a whim I decided to clean the bottom shelf of one of the akward corner cabinets....

It should house a lazy susan, but instead it's baking central!

Now I have a theory...

 

I think that Canadian Pyrex wasn't made with as much care as the one

made in good ol' U.S.A....

 

Why? Well most of my Canadian made pieces have a funky weird flaw inside, like it was in the mold....It looks like a wave and is not glazed so everything stains it.

 

And they are harder to clean.

 

I'll try to capture it for you tomorrow.

 

Well that's it for today because I am soooo tired and I heard Dan and

Bandito snoring to the sofa!

That's life!

So every Sunday afternoon after the country line dance class I put a load in the washer. Sunday has become the official wash day.

Later I went to put the clothes in the dryer and I notice the clothes are all wet. Naturally I thought it was a fluke, so I ran the spin cycle again...and the spin cycle doesn't spin! Oh that explains why our clothes are all wet....!"/$%?&*()*&?%

So I spent a good half hour wringing them by hand and it took most of the evening to dry 1 load....

First the dryer doesn't dry really well and then the washer has spinosis. It has been a really good washer; we purchased it in 1992 when we moved in together....so that is 18 years of loyal services. And since I suspect the dryer is going too....

We are going washer and dryer shopping tonight (what a fun way to spend a Monday night!). This morning I had to do a load of whites (we DO need clean underwear) and I noticed that the agitator doesn't agitate !"/$%?&*!"/$%?&!"/$%?!!!

I had to play agitator (that is really good for my tennis elbow...) I hope the store will be able to deliver soon!

On to more pleasant topics....I am on the Glycemic Index diet right now and I have never eaten so much on a diet! I don't feel famished all the time and no signs of hypoglycemia. I must admit that it's not for everyone. You need to cook quite a bit. No problem for me I love cooking and I have some time...

So this morning I made some homemade granola bars GI style.

Here are the wet and dry ingredients and to the left the pan lined with parchemin paper (I just love that stuff, it makes ones life so much easier).

All baked!!! Now I just need to let it cool and cut in 16 bars. I can bring one with me to work this afternoon!

As you noticed, I'm sure, everything was in Pyrex. Pyrex makes me smile!

Road trip! Again???

A whole day of frolicking in the fields of vendors and unique items!

Since yesterday was overcast and we had rain like crazy the day before there was less people than in the pic. But we did have a lot of fun!!!

After only ten minutes I had bought 4 Pyrex delphite (made in Canada) cereal bowls, in mint condition I tell you! And I got a super good price on them-4 bowls for less than the price of one on ebay.

And later during the day I found a Pyrex delphite cream and sugar set never used (How do I know it was never used? The sugar still has a Pyrex sticker on it!). That seller really wanted to get rid of it 'coz the price was rock bottom....

There was a lot of Pyrex to be seen...A homestead bowl set in the original box, a verde bowl set, lots of Sunflower casseroles, turquoise bowls, primary sets and the prices were very reasonnable! Lots of Delphite too! Besides what I wrote earlier, I saw a big round serving plate, multiple cream and sugar set and a really sad (but really) complete dish set in a box under a table, thoses dishes had been in the dishwasher so many times they made me cringe!

After you have walked all around and seen the Shamwows (no Vince wasn't there) and you heard the tacky country music (recorded in somebody's kitchen while drunk-there is no other explanation for it ), you can go see the vendors inside. And there in a pile of rubble I recognized it and my heart made a small jump and I reached and grabbed a Pyrex lime lasagna dish (I didn't have one like that!!!) mint but real dirty and the price was right too (Still cheaper than ebay and no crazy shipping charges!)

I was spent! too much excitement! Time for sustenance at TopShot, where the baby back ribs are delicious and the beer is cold (the ribs were delicious but I don't know about the beer...too early in the day). We were so stuffed we had to take a walk before going back in the car!!!

I was soooo tired! It reminded me of Brimfield, Mass...

I am glad to stay home today and garden and hassle the tree service guy (he should come late next week, sigh!)
