Crafty TCB

Well, Xmas is over and just a warm fuzzy memory and the New Year is just a stone throw away.

I cooked and baked so much that the skin on my entire body felt covered in flour...

Everybody appreciated and got their seasonnal goodies...

Henry found a new friend Stella of Elf on a Shelf  fame.
                                       I sure hope he behaves!

I made a fresh and lovely lunch of grilled shrimp and quinoa salad

And Dan made this lovely super cute birch tree for Dad.
The Etsy shop might take a new direction!
I'm thinking all kinds of birch accessories!

So for now , good night and sleep tight!

Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Santa....

Good morning everybody! 143 followers is AWESOME! I still can't believe it!
Ok so today it's Stocking Stuffer ideas for Santa because most of this stuff you can't find in Canada and I very much doubt that my family will go south to shop.
Here we go!

An aluminium tree. I'd never dream i'd say this but I want one BAAAAD! With the color wheel of course. I'm a natural tree kinda gal but I'm totally into vintage right now and it would look great with my new sofa!

AAAAAAAAaaaaahhhhh! Baconnaise! I would love to taste this, not available in Canada. They don't even ship to Canada...sigh!

A cool belt buckle, doesn't have to be the Batman sign but a cool one. I'm sick of my plain black belt.

This is my fave lip balm! I have good chances of getting that one because: It is available in Canada and I made quite a production when I finished mine a couple of weeks ago! LOL
The elusive Elf Zit Zapper! Not available in Canada...they do ship but it's like 14.95$. A middle age girl still gets zits aaaarrrrggghhh!

Paige Meadows hand cream. By far my favorite! Not available in Canada either. They don't ship here and last year I was soooo desperate to get some...I enrolled in Borderlinx, which I find is a total scam. Here's how it goes: you set up an account and they give you an address (a fake one in the U.S) so you can order from companies that don't ship to Canada. So you pay regular shipping, let's say 6.95$ after that they ship it from your fake a dress to your real one and that costs an arm and a leg....Last year I ended up paying more than 30$ shipping for amazing hand cream.   If you find some, please try it it is amazing!!! Really I'm not kidding :)

Twiglets! OMG! From the U.K.This addictive snack is not for every body, it's overly salty and crunchy and most eople I know who've tried it find it tastes like sawdust and dirt. But who cares! If I could inhale some right now before breakfast I would!
I first became aware of Twiglets while watching a Mr Bean special.

Here's a taste of Mr Bean...

And Pyrex of course! Like the small one of this unknown pattern...The unofficial name is Eyes....

Bad Miss V!

The weather has been wet and cold here in Maine. We were able to take walks between showers, shop and visit a big 16,000 feet Goodwill that contained NOTHING interesting. In its favor it was very, very clean!

If I compare it to the Sally Ann I visit...the Sally Ann is like a Petri dish and you could operate in the Goodwill! Clean but boring!

We both came down with colds so we slept a lot, watched loads of tv and are currently working on a puzzle. There is nearly nobody...it's like somedy pulled out the sidewalks, closed the town and pulled down the shades...Most everything is closed for the season.

Henry has been laying low, waiting for the nice weather to arrive. Today was sunny and hot and we took the opportunity to go to Portland.

Yes we took Henry with us!

We visited a candy store and Henry pestered us to buy him some chocolate dipped bacon...

(yes it looks like something else...)

Henry is finding it mighty tasty! Me not some much! If you ask me it's a definite waste of BACON!

Portland's waterfront is lovely, really, I totally urge you to go. One more tourist won't make a difference! I wonder where they all came from....
So it's 11:30 nearly time to go back to the car and try to find the restauurant that Dan picked from a magazine more than a month ago...I get in the car, reach for my water bottle, I also want to check up on Henry and his bacon...Henry? Where's Henry? Have you seen Henry? OMG I FORGOT HENRY ON THE PARKING METER!!! WHAT THE F***! I'M SUCH A BAD PERSON! POOR LITTLE ELF IN THE STRANGE CITY, HIS BELLY FULL OF BACON, WHAT IF SOMEBODY TOOK HIM! OMG! HIS FANS WILL NEVER FORGIVE ME!!!

Let me tell you I was freaking out! And Dan always the picture of calm, said we'll go back maybe he's still there. So we drive (thank god I remember where the candy store was!), I get out of the car without closing the door and I run and, and, and he's still there digesting his bacon but really pissed off at me!

So Henry made it pretty clear that I owed him lunch with drinks!

This is the place that Dan picked, it used to be a gas station.

Well Dan has really good taste (hehehe!). It was delicious and very exotic. We had tacos Al Pastor, Fish tacos, grilled beef quesadillas and mexican style corn. Henry and I had mojitos.

Henry downed his pretty fast!

Here's what happens when elves are drunk, head over heels in the cutlery!

The sun was so warm that we drove back as fast as we could so we could hit the beach!

Have a great evening!

Elf Gone WILD!!!

Like I mentionned HERE last Saturday we went on a roadtrip to Gananoque, Ontario. I had promised Henry he could come, but one thing led to another and he was left HOME ALONE!

Pinotte (peanut) my toxedo cat and always in charge when we are away was totally apalled by his behavior so she took pictures....

It seems it started innocently enough...with one beer. Need I add Henry is a small elf? One beer (and a light one at that) was all it took....

Next thing they knew Henry was hitting the hard stuff and suffering the consequences....

Passing out in a shaker...Oh my!

You can guess what was next....

Yep! You guessed it! Calling the moose in the big white porcelain phone!
Needless to say Henry was fast asleep when we came home...And he is soooo grounded (at least for a couple of weeks). We had to hide and lock the booze!

Until next time....

Henry's Shopping Spree

Who knew that Henry was a shopaholic? Well certainly not me! You think you know elves!

So Henry was sucking up for a trip to the mall. It seems that working for Santa doesn't allow for a lot shoping!

First stop the ATM for some cash.

An elf can never smell too good! So Henry bought himself an English Leather gift set (eeeewww!). I didn't know they still made the stuff, it screams 1970 to me and I couldn't help myself and included a bad 1970 English Leather commercial-please get braces for that little girl with a mullet PLEASE!!!

Here Henry stopped by the drugstore to say hi to some snowmen dishes he met at Santa's workshop.I have a blue one at home that Dan nicknamed the obscene bowl. I love eating caramel corn from it.

Those are just my size! Said Henry trying on some boots. I'll take them!!! Do you realise that Henry doesn't carry all his purchases. His arms are too short! I'm the one who carries everything!!!
Last pic: Henry's taking a breather in the soft drink fridge. It was getting too hot in the mall!
Don't fall asleep Henry it's time to go home!

Snow Fun with Henry

It has been snowing nearly everyday here and that means 2 things....Lots of shoveling and fun!
Thank god for Henry! He has been such a big help!
In the first picture Henry climbed in the cedar to survey the work to be done!

There's always time for some snow angels! Wheee!

On Dancer,on Prancer! Here's practicing for next year....One can never practice enough!
By the way Dan gave me this super cute reindeer for xmas. I had been yearning for one for quite a while! I named him Robbie. Henry and Robbie became fast friends!

Shoveling the roof is hard work! Thank god we have an elf on hand!
After all that hard work (and play), we each had a big cup of cocoa (my fingers were too frozen to take a pic!) and then a big nap!

Have a great weekend!
Guess what? it's still snowing!

Henry's Chinese Lunch

Before taking a well deserved vacation with Santa Claus and gang; Henry asked for a lunch in Montreal's Chinatown.

What a great idea! I love chinese food! My favorite restaurant was closed until Jan 6th-Big bummer! I could almost taste the shrimp wonton, the shrimp in lobster sauce....sigh

So I asked Henry if he minded going to another one of my fave chinese dives, Mon Shing A.K.A Samourai delicatessen.

While employed I went there every week, the food was good and cheap but had the worst service EVER! Henry's always up for new and different!

Here Henry is enjoying some shrimp with lobster sauce and some beef chow main...YUM!

Henry's thinking: Wow those Singapour noodles sure look good!
Henry had a whirl on the lazy susan, but by then the waiters were scowling....so no pictures!
We laughed a lot, we ate too much so we were faithful to ourselves-It it's not broken don't fix it!
Henry had a nice nap in the car on the way home...
We watched Deck the Halls later at night and had a lot of fun, then off to bed!

More from Henry!

I was informed by Henry yesterday that I had forgotten to load the lunch pic where he had a big bowl of vietnamese soup. So here it is!
That was one hot soup! the waitress asked us if we wanted hot and we said medium!

Henry is enjoying the harbor view from the hotel room. Isn't gorgeous? The ice is just beginning to form...And believe it or not, we could open a window! I'd never seen that!
Here Henry is enjoying a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon and hash browns at Morrison's (great dinner)

Henry loves tea and took the opportunity to shop at Cook's fine food for last minute gifts...
After all that excitment Henry waited for us in the car while we shopped.
Then we went home after a brief stop at Value Village....
At home Henry went straight to bed! That was one tired little Xmas elf!

Henry's big adventure!

I got Henry as a Xmas gift 2 christmases ago. He fast became an hilarious tradition.
You can record messages in Henry and he replays them with a little quirky elf voice! So, us being the fun loving folks that we are, keep changing the messages and laughing and thinking of other ways to surprise the other with it.
last sunday I noticed that his batteries were dead, so I changed them but put them in the wrong way...If Dan hadn't checked it, I might have not been here today to blog about it! The batteries had become very, very hot and had become a dangerous fire hazzard!
Very carefully I removed them and let them cool. Once cooled i put them the right way and checked Henry a good part of the day and this time he kept his cool. We were scheduled for a roadtrip the day after so on a whim I decided to bring Henry on his first big adventure!
First pic: Henry is hanging out on the winshield...
Second pic: What is a roadtrip without Tim Horton's coffee??? Henry is sampling a double-double!
He loves his Tim! Here's a well known fact: Canadian's love their Tim Horton's coffee!
It was supposed to be a thrifting/shopping roadtrip and we had assumed that like here in Quebec the stores would be opened until 9 pm...But were not! And even some of our fave flea markets were closed all day.....!"/$%?&*(). In case you're wondering that is me swearing!

Rest at last! Here Henry is adjusting his side of the sleep number bed at the Radisson. We got a great deal on the room because, it's the off season and an additional rebate from the CAA...
Well, sleep tight Henry!
Again a very Merry Xmas to all!
It's 1 pm, I'm still in my pjs. We might go to the movies later....might is a big word. We don't have to go if we don't want to. We're having leftovers for supper. We had the Xmas dinner last night coz' here it's all about flexibility...
