In my last post, I wrote about closing the garden.....

Monday morning, I woke up to this!

Usually the first snowfall melts in the same day....
Not this one!

Definitely time to think about Xmas!

Those are pics from my house in the suburbs

I love this little plate! I am so glad
nobody bought in on Easy...

i still don't know how I will decorate outside because those squirrels
are CRAZY!
I am afraid to loose what Xmas lights are left!
I am sure I will think of something since I am super resourceful

And I will be praying for a white christmas.....

Have a great evening!

WWWWHHHHAAATTTT??????

This what I was greeted with yesterday morning.....

 Yessss siree bob! SNOW
Real F.... snow!
Do i need to remind you that it is APRIL!
REALLY!

This morning it is snowing again...
I am happy to have chili in my lunch box!

This clock is on my vintage bucket list...
The Molson Export clock could be seen in many bars and restaurant in the 60's
and 70's . I want mine with hands and no cracks...
Please!

I was looking at my Pyrex the other and found that these 2 casseroles
weren't giving me as much joy as before!

Through the magic of Facebook, I was able to
find a new home for them in Quebec City.
Money in my pocket, a new friend and space to display
more vintage glassware!

Well dear readers, thank you for reading and commenting.

Hearing from you always makes my day!

Today

Today,

the sky was so blue I wanted to take a big bite out of it....

I was on the hunt for hot cross buns....
with no luck

It didn't matter the sun was shinning and I felt GREAT!

On the downside... As I write this post, it is snowing....

We might get 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 centimeters)

My winter boots are just within reach, just in case

Happy New year!!!

To all my friends from the blogosphere, I wish you a fantastic New Year!

Happiness, health and prosperity to all . May you reach your goals , whatever they might be.

I ended 2015 by cooking a turkey, removing all the cooked meat and storing it Pyrex dishes covered in turkey broth. I'll just have to reheat it tonight for a moist delicious turkey dinner.

I also made additional broth with the carcass.

I also made a batch of our traditional Hoppin' John.
Black eyed peas, rice, tomatoes and bacon to
insure wealth in the coming year...more than enough to cover the bills,
big or small.

That's my dinning room table with the usual suspects of Xmas decor

Since I last posted we had more than 15 inches of snow! Surprise!
Well not really, it is Quebec after all....

Speaking of snow...I have to go shovel!

Stay warm and keep on thrifting!

Testing 1, 2

So it seems that I need to download Chrome....It works with Vista

and since I don't have money lying around , right now, I decide to give it a go. I believe I will be able to tweek it so I don't get all those pesky Russian/ Asian voluptuous brides for hire...

Fingers crossed!!!

Success! I was able to upload a picture!

Now I will have to be XTRA vigilent to keep the junk and crap away!!!

Thank you for the moral support . Sleep tight!

So soon?

I apologize for my lack of posts. We've had some emotional happenings and I needed time to recover.

On top of it , my cousin Josee, pointed today that I wasn't writing in the blog....

On August 25th we had the fueral service for Rejeanne my mother in law. It was beautiful, simple, my Dad and all the cousins came( Josee with her sweetie, Nathalie and David).

Our friend Josee (who reads the blog dropped by too). Dan had friends from out of town who drove in.

We were really touched by all the love and support. But it is still pretty tiring.

Last Sunday we got a desperate S.O.S from  my stepdaughter, one of her cats, the adorable Mr. Nibbles was dying.

We found an emergency veteneray hospital, drove down to meet her, and went to the hospital. The poor thing was having convulsions and the diabetes was too far along.

We cried a lot and hugged Mr.Nibbles until he went to cat heaven. I don't have a picture handy but I will get one and show you what a cutie he was. And still is.

As for work...I've learned a lot of new processes in the last few months and surprisingly things seem to be falling into place. That makes for more pleasant work days!

Last week on my way to my Dad's place...I saw this.....

Nice dress and vintage inspired too!

Take a closer look at the skirt...
It is a Christmassy Winter Village!
With snow!
Oh my!

So Soon???

Snow

I'm glad I kept my Xmas lights and just changed the bulbs to make St Patty's lights!

Too bad you can't see the green hues.

They're predicting another 6 inches overnight.

Oh well! Let's keep the shovel handy! LOL

Good night and sweet dreams

Monday...sigh

Not a big fan of Mondays....except those on vacation!

So today was a slomo d of day, where everything is complicated and slow moving. It happens!

But whenever I feel blue I think of my furry faces!

Yoda loves the snow and running in it; which explains the snow on her adorable face.

Gotta go I need to be rested for tomorrow

Fun with Snow

Yes I'm showing you a picture of yours truly shoveling snow in my PJs!

Who cares what the neighbors think!

Sorry about that Dad!
I bet this pic will be right there with the white trash/green chair/blowmold near the pool shot!

Yep Dad still talks about that one!

See? I'm having fun and shoveling too!

Be well my friends!

Please say a little prayer for the speedy recovering of Mr. Toes ,Linda's kitty
He got shot by a pellet gun

Yes we brought a shovel

Tuesday morning at the customs, the agent asked us to open the trunk. He leaned in and we just heard a big guffaw and is that a shovel? Yep we brought a shovel on vacation along with some traction aids, long johns and ski goggles.

We used the later on a walk we took yesterday and I took those pics...

The bowl I found in Oxford at a deep discount. I paid 5.88$ (tax included)

Now zoom out

I was able to take a pic of the sea

This small house litterally hangs on the cliff. Scary! I would never buy a house like that, I'm too much of a scaredy cat!

Wind and snow.

I had a nice surprise in the room. The kitchen cupboards were fully stocked with Butterfly Gold! Not just the gravy boat and the cream and sugar but full place settings and veggie bowls and service plates.

The nice big and very clean room, I still miss my own comfy bed and kitty cats!

We just might use the shovel today to dig the car our for we are going to the fleas!
The sun is shinning :)

Maine: CLOSED

It took FOREVER to reach the resort. In case you live under a rock there's a historic snow storm out there! We got stuck following a salt truck for seemed like hours and then a really slow driver....On I95 we saw some accidents, which makes me wonder, are snow tires mandatory in Maine? Real snow tires, not the all season inferior ones...Let me know

But we did stop at my fave flea in Oxford, for a pit stop and some fast thrifting. With my eagle eye I spotted some interesting items....

We burst laughing when we saw these....Scary Pixies!
They put a whole new spin on cream and sugar...

An adorable village for the tree

I did pick up a NICE piece of Pyrex....but I haven't had time to take a pic.

We wanted to have dinner at the Maine Diner, featured in Diners,Drive-ins and Dives....but it was closed.
We ended up in an asian restaurant EAST. To our surprise it was very tasty and affordable and we got to bring the leftovers home! YUM

ok not a great pic! you can see a bit of the snow falling.

This is our living room in Perkins Cove. Really comfortable! It's all reclinable.
While I was watching tv last night, the network would announce al the school closings....but it's not just schools, it's churches, clinics, vets, town halls, dance classes, karate class, soup kitchens...which made me sad for people who so rely on them.
We had the really bright idea to hit a grocery store in Wells, so we have food and chinese leftovers until tomorrow!

This one is for my Dad, yes we had a cup of brown and a great breakfast at Howard's in Colebrook.

Today we will go for a walk and then phone the Maine Diner to see if they are opened before heading out...other wise it will be ham sandwiches,KD or leftovers.....
Stay warm faithful readers!

Winter Blues

So Monday morning after a weekend of fever, coughing and everything being sick means.....Dan decided to take me to see a doctor; after all I have ashtma and I don't want complications. I know I've been there.

We stopped for some breakfast on the way and our friendly waitress asked if we were ready for the upcoming weather the next day....weather? What weather? Snow was on the way....

The border near the street.

Our medical services might be free but the system is definitely lacking....Now I have ashtma, pain in my lungs when I cough, pain in my sinuses,a fever...And I waited 9 hours to see a doctor. They called in a kid that hurt his arm at school, tummy aches, garden variety aches and pain all before me....I was too sick to be pissed off!

The shade garden

And the doctor was some piece of work too! Yes Dr Tange from the Valleyfield hospital I'm writing about you! You have no bed side manners. She told me that I wasn't sick enough, I should've waited a couple more days. And not to worry about complications, it was all in my head. A couple of years ago I was hospitalised because the cold had changed into a full blown bronchitiis that I was too weak to fight.
But after 9 hours I just didn't care...just give me some pills that I can go home and crash. Well she didn't want to give me antibiotics for the sinusitis she said I didn't have. Thank god she finally produced a prescrition! She told me to wait a couple of days to take it. Hell no! I was going to start taking it with my supper! which i did and I'm glad because I feel better already! Alive and kicking and well enough to thrift! WOOHOO!

Do you remember the Seinfeld episode where Elaine has a rash and she's trying to see a doctor for it and nobody will see her because one doctor wrote in her file she was difficult?  Well I don't think I'll be welcomed for quite a while there....hihihi

The side border

Now about the garden...Seeing the snow fall was like a dream. So strange looking! I'm glad to report that the flowers still look glorious! It's definitely one of my best spring flower year.

So with the snow falling and I was still a bit tired from my hospital ordeal from Monday....I went upstairs for a nap....Here's what I saw....

One word on the vintage pillow cases. I got them all for 75 cents at my fave church basement. I'm in love!

Have a great day and keep smiling!

Snow Fun with Henry

It has been snowing nearly everyday here and that means 2 things....Lots of shoveling and fun!
Thank god for Henry! He has been such a big help!
In the first picture Henry climbed in the cedar to survey the work to be done!

There's always time for some snow angels! Wheee!

On Dancer,on Prancer! Here's practicing for next year....One can never practice enough!
By the way Dan gave me this super cute reindeer for xmas. I had been yearning for one for quite a while! I named him Robbie. Henry and Robbie became fast friends!

Shoveling the roof is hard work! Thank god we have an elf on hand!
After all that hard work (and play), we each had a big cup of cocoa (my fingers were too frozen to take a pic!) and then a big nap!

Have a great weekend!
Guess what? it's still snowing!
