Garage Sale Madness

I was up at 6:30 on Saturday morning and to my great surprise I found Dan in the living room sipping coffee. No time to waste Miss V., I saw a lot of garage sale signs all along the river from Lachine to Ste-Anne de Bellevue last night. Hurry up!

We left the house around 8, after all I soooo need my coffee in the morning and we had to unload the car of all the Danish goodness...

We hit yard sales, garage sales, driveway sales, estate sales, moving sales...We even stumbled upon 2 streets in Dorval  holding their 31st annual garage sale weekend. That was CRAZY fun! We just parked the car and walked for like hours!

We probably hit between 40 and 50 sales! Here the bounty...

The Pyrex casserole I got for 1$. I find that my Pyrex eye is really sharp; I spotted it more than 100 feet away and was out of the car before it stopped. I didn't have that one...HUM Daisy 043 casserole!

The french press coffee pot was never used....and quite a find for 2$

The Tupperware Pickle Saver looks unused too, no scratches and no greasy used Tupperware film (you know the one....)

I like the estate and moving sales because you actually get to snoop in other people's houses...The moving sale was in one of those huge McMansions. I was really surprised at the size of the rooms. Little, little rooms with big marshmallow beds inside and nothing else. The kitchen was lilliputian, mine is twice as big. And everything for sale was new, but really new; the latest furniture and accessories. Everything looked barely used....I was really weird for me the vintage junk lover. These people are selling everything and most probably will get all new stuff at their new house....

I was really excited to find the 2 Glasbake Hottles (yes hottle and not bottle) at a local thrift store. Yes, we managed to hit 2. The glass fridgie I got for my Dad; he's so over plastic.
I couldn't leave the Expo 67 serving tray...It's so wonderfully kitschy and will make a great addition to my Etsy store.

As you can see there is some damage on the lid's design...Crazy scrubbing with an S.O.S, I'm guessing....I couldn't shake a  deja vu feeling...so I went shopping in my own house...and found a brand new lid for it!

WHOOHOO!

So how was your weekend?

Great finds! Your Saturday sounds like mine; so many with not enough time! My mother has a Pyrex casserole just like that and still uses it.

Wow, what a haul! You rock the pyrex, as always! And the rest of the stuff is fabulous and I do know that film...

That Expo 67 tray is a blast from the past. I remember we had season passes and they looked like passports - but red.

I can't believe you had the matching lid for the Pyrex. Only you!

I was on the road too this Saturday! But in the Hudson's area! We might come across each other soon! We went by the Lakeshore on sunday but nothing!
Sometimes you hit the jackpot and somedays nothing catches my eyes!
But I can smell Milk glass before I am out of the car! Have a nice week!
