Yesterday was a crapfest of a day! My Dad told me he couldn't come on vacation with us, it was really flying (the shit) at the postal counter and I might have Glaucoma. Oh Joy, oh bliss!
What I'd like to share today are 2 little lamps that I will be listing in my Etsy shop.
Aren't they adorable?
They were the dirtiest lamps EVER! Ok, I'm sure there are dirtier lamps...but these had dead bugs inside...eeewww! Since I wanted to learn more about them I took Louis XIV from his base to see if there was a stamp, BIG MISTAKE! It took me 90 minutes to screw him back on....!"/$%?&*()!But what I learned is that those 2 cuties are Occupied Japan. They are very fine porcelain.
Now what I need to do is rewire them both because the wire was so brittle it was falling off! Then I'll put them in the store. They even come with their original shades! Too bad Marie-Antoinette was a bad girl and lost her hand somewhere....

What an adorable pair! Sorry you had a lousy day yesterday, join the club! I brought home a few vintage things a couple of weeks ago that container dead bugs, so I guess we can join that club together too, lol! Happy VTT! Hope today is a brighter day (maybe once you get your lamps rewired, it WILL be!)
That was a great find. You should be proud of yourself for taking the time to clean them up and really discover a vintage keepsake.
Wow, they cleaned up really good! They look very well made and finely detailed. Sorry to hear about your crappy day. Hope it gets better.
Nice that you rescued them! They look great and once you rewire them they should sell!! Sorry you had such a poopy day!
Those are cute. I bet they go fast on your etsy site. Glad you debugged them!
Well, better her hand than her head!
These are both lovely!
My Mom had glaucoma so I'm tested regularly...hope its not as bad as you think.
Have a great week-end.
Occupied Japan items are a hot ticket. Hope you do well.
I sooooo know what you mean about taking things apart! It's like trying to put something back in a box with the styrofoam and whatnot and then the darn lid won't close! Grrrrrr.
Those are such unique lamps! I'm sure you will sell those in no time!
Wow - those are a pair of beauties! Thanks for visiting my blog for VTT!
Well...I bet you are glad you cleaned them up good! They are beauties!! Have a great VTT
Very pretty vintage lamps. Must have been those pesty stink bugs that have taken over the country!!!
Those are truly beautiful. I'm sure they were a lot of work to refresh though! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment on my "insulator" game. Enjoyed having you over! Sandi
Gorgeous lamps - they cleaned up nicely! Sorry about your day.
