Recap 2018 part 3

By October I realized that if I wanted to make a HUGE dent in my Dad's stuff I needed an outlet, somewhere where they would take a large variety of items....

I found those lovely people on Facebook and they have a second hand store in my new neighborhood.

They were a total godsend! and right now my priority is getting rid of stuff and making a bit of money and it makes them happy and I am happy so everybody is happy!

Here are some of the things they took

So much copper! Yes there is a market for it but people like to pay $1 soon
I was happy to see it go.

Pewter was my Mom's fave. I kept a couple of pieces
bit I was singing a song when it left....
 More copper....aaarrrggghhh!
Brass anyone? The glassware I still have and I just might keep
the celery glasses because they make great vases.
They did not want the duck family at first but they took them!
Woohoo! I could not stand these guys....
I kept an antique Chinese one for Peking duck
Yes I sold this one but in the classifieds and well below market price.
I am against Pyrex that is so expensive so need to second mortgage your house!
I bought this one in early 2018 for a really good price and I made a profit while
making a husband really happy to find a great gift for his wife for Xmas!
Is that a win win??? YYYEEESSSSSSS!

I French those chairs are called Burgers and I've seen them all my life.
I have a picture of Dad holding me on my first Xmas and he is sitting in one of those.
well they were from the early 1900's and would have benefited from a total makeover.
They were ripped up by claws...kinda scratchy and smelly so out they went....

sigh....

and then I fell in love! Every Thursday night I would check the duplexes for sale....
and it was always the same listings....crappy buildings....weird renos....a new trend is totally opening
the space even the bedroom.....NO just NO!

I saw it on Friday night, I left a message to the realtor. He called me back on Saturday
On Sunday we visited, we made an offer and it was accepted all in the same weekend!
I dream of that kitchen at night...heated floors ...what???
It is so square....and plumb and white and shiny.
 I love the floors....
I have a basement, I have a basement lol
that is so exciting to me.....

Thanks for bearing with me! I was sure by January 5th I would've posted my resolutions...

I still haven't been to Vegas!

That is for another day

Be well my friends

2018 Recap part 2

Starting in June it was PURGE time!

and I started selling stuff in the classified.

My Dad collected Flameware from Pyrex...so all I did't want I listed on Facebook

You can't tell but underneath the kitty and the throw was
a beautiful Mid-Century report turquoise chair.
It was beautiful but so uncomfortable!
I hope the new owners are happy with it!

Just a small collection of my Dad's pitchers
I found a good home for them...
This beautiful Teak leaf table was listed on the classified and
went to a good home.

We sold 2 of these chairs and kept the third one.

we also sold patio furniture, a smoker, a planer, a router with bits...
and a Queen duvet cover, a pink coffee maker....
and much stuff I am forgetting about!

So right now I am too tired to continue....Sorry

balance of recap hopefully tomorrow!

What's New

I have been weeding out the Pyrex....What else is new? LOL

I have a new friend who is seriously addicted to Pyrex, I found her on Facebook...She has been very nice and very happy to buy some of my Pyrex.

4 cups and saucers, Lime Pyrex dinnerware

Vintage casserole, in box with pamphlet

Promo casserole with caddy. I like to call that one
Butterprint because of the roosters that are found on the Butterprint pattern.

It seems that spring has finally arrived in  Montreal!
We rushed to the hardware store
and got those sweet turquoise chairs....
replacing the ricketty and rotten ones Dad had before.

I can't wait to see the garden in bloom!

Stay thrifty, stay well

Remember this cutie?

First things first!

This is you last chance to comment for my super duper Clamato giveaway, click HERE for a chance to win.

Now please be honest....Do you remember this?

That cutie is part of a set of 4 that were rescued from the trash in Lachine last year. Yes they are made of teak and worth a pretty penny (Why someone would want to throw them out, it leaves me speechless, which doesn't happen very often let me tell you!)
Also in the trash was the dinning room table minus legs (Go figure!). So the plan was to re-upholster the chairs and have some legs made.
These things are easier said than done! lol
Here at Casa de Vonlipi we definitely have problems with follow through. We had to figure out what we wanted to re-upholster the chairs with....originaly it was black vinyl....But I suggested we reuse some dark blue leather we had, so we bought some dye....2 months ago.

The chairs got done last weekend! I so thrilled I can't believe my eyes everytime I look at them! hihihi

Isn't she SWEET? OMG I can't believe we now have genuine mid-century teak dinning room chairs!
It cost less than 30$  for the dye and the padding so that is 7.50$ per chair which is pretty trifty in my book!

Now here are some pics of Canada Day Pyrex in action!

As an appetizer I made crab cakes....with a special tartar sauce. I haven't written down the recipe yet, but they were delicious!

A Pyrex dredging station (can you tell I watch a lot of cooking shows?)

Some of the dishes resting after a hard evening's work!

This is oe of those morning after shots....I still had the tablecloth on the table and the Pink Pyrex fridgie set just wanted to come out and play!
Look how the pink from the tablecloth is really close to the color of the Pyrex? F-R-E-A-K-Y!

Well that's it for tonight....As much as my heart wants to thrift, my mind says  I should take care of the house and the yard.....sniff.....I try to do a little bit every night after work.....

Have a restful night my friends!

Mod Danish Goodness

Yesterday I was fixing supper, minding my own business...

When I heard our car's honking in the driveway, I also hear: Miss V come see what I found! Quick come see the TREASURE I found in the garbage!!!

Yep! 4 vintage Danish chairs and a table to boot! OMGOMGOMGOMG! I can't believe you found that in the TRASH! OMGOMGOMGOMG it's the real mccoy! Teak, I can't believe the luck! Made by Farstup in the 60's...Of all the things....

We need to reupholster the chairs because they are covered in a really gross eighties fabric and my fave woodworker needs to make some legs for the table because those are missing...Who would throw out a perfectly good table and keep the legs? Probably the legs were picked up by somebody else.

I'm really looking forward to fixing this because I loathe my dinning room set! It's vintage but a copy of early Quebec furniture....I hope I can find a good house for it!

Come back Monday for some garale sale madness!
