In the garden

My Dad's house has a special garden.

It is a secret oasis. I have been told that people could never imagine that this kind of place existed in Montreal...

Meghan is enjoying quiet time on her private island...

 A quiet green haven

Do I spy a pink flamingo?

I love hearing the cool gurgling of the cat's fountain.
Yes my Dad had this fountain installed for his cats...

I have trouble wrapping my head around the fact that this is my garden....

The accountant/executor is being a total mean lady and doesn't share info at ALL
I am worried that she doesn't follow the steps as she should.....

this adds up to my anxiety BIG TIME!

If you are looking for me...I will be by the fountain chilling....

On this last day of March

I had 2 topics I wanted to share with you...

There is a Barbie Expo in Montreal!

FREE!!!

I love Barbie and her wonderfully wild and crazy get ups!
This will be so much fun!

NEXT!

Do you know Modglass ?

I don't !

They sell some kind of 21st century Pyrex!

I have seen a blue and turquoise one too, I took pictures but never found them!
I have a witness too....

They are super cute, but a bit on the pricey side....

$25 each

Oh well....

Enjoy the last evening of March

Mount-Royal

Located in Montreal, Mount-Royal is believed to be an ancient extinct volcano....

It is more a hill than a mountain. As per Wikipedia it is part of the Mounteregian hills. The Mount Royal park  was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed Central Park.

It is known as the city's lung and a great place to enjoy the great outdoors without leaving the city!

This is a view of Beaver Lake, a man made lake.

We like to walk around it or snowshoe around it.

The chalet was built in the 60's and is a great place to get hot chocolate.
There is an outdoor skating rink nearby too.

We like to go there to decompress after work. It is so peaceful .
It just hit me that when I was a wee girl, Dad and I would go for walks and to
pick wildflowers every Sunday in Spring and Summer.

Another sign Spring is just around the corner? Spring flowers are
out at the Dollarama!!!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING!!!

Market Day

Last Saturday we woke up real early to Pick up my Dad and go to Jean-Talon Market.

Jean-Talon Market is one of Montreal's oldest public market , it was opened in 1933. It is also one of the largest public market in North America.

You can find a very large variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers, meat, artisanal products ....and bread!!! How can I forget the bread!

I couldn't believe the mushroom selection!

Flowers....I didn't linger because I couldn't buy anything since we are moving....

I got lovely fresh peas, zucchinis and fresh figs....

With the zucchinis I made a lovely grilled zucchini with lemon salt recipe from The Pioneer Woman.
I didn't have time to make the lemon salt but the marinade was very very good and lemony. I will make this recipe again for sure but I will let it marinate longer, like maybe an hour...

Yes that is my Pyrex Red Kettle platter....And I was so in awe of the bakery that I didn't take any pictures,,,

So Soon

I can't believe how fast summer flew by!

It seems that just weeks ago I was planting tomatoes....

Yesterday was downright cold...7 Celsius (44 F)....BRRRR and cloudy. We worked all day outside, closing the veggie garden, mowing the lawn, cleaning the shed....

Here's some of the last harvest

So not too bad for a 6 by 3 box.

We actually got about 7 cukes and the cheery tomatoes will be plentiful.
I will need to bring all the other tomatoes inside to ripen because all are green.

Next year I will plant less tomatoes and more beans....

And now for some sight from the Morrisburg, Ont flea market....

A large doll head in a rain barrell
This is a must have for Halloween!

                                                   This was strange....

A garden lamp with fake flowers added on

I think it is meant to put near a grave...
The really freaky one .....to tell you the truth I was not confortable
taking pics,,,,,It is a swag with a light meant to sit on top of the
                                                      tombstone.....with fake flowers of course....

                                                      (Me NO like)

Right now we are debating to start the furnase or not...

The NO side won so right now we will be wearing an extra
                                                       layer!

Back to DWTS.....who did you like? who you didn't?

                                                      Lert's chat!

Coneflowers

To tell the truth...I also collect plants...less than Pyrex mind you....

I have a soft spot for coneflowers

So I thought it was a good idea to share some of mince

                                              White with yellow heart

                                          Classic purple coneflower

I will take a picture of this beauty in another light
because the orange doesn't show at all.
This one is called a Sunset

                                            White with a green heart

The burgundy is not in bloom yet...and I have a double decker too that didn't show well...
I will try to reshot them during the week to share with you

I love coneflowers because they are sturdy, drought resistant and thrive in my crap soil!

Until next time...sleep tight my friends :)
