So Soon

I can't believe how fast summer flew by!

It seems that just weeks ago I was planting tomatoes....

Yesterday was downright cold...7 Celsius (44 F)....BRRRR and cloudy. We worked all day outside, closing the veggie garden, mowing the lawn, cleaning the shed....

Here's some of the last harvest

So not too bad for a 6 by 3 box.

We actually got about 7 cukes and the cheery tomatoes will be plentiful.
I will need to bring all the other tomatoes inside to ripen because all are green.

Next year I will plant less tomatoes and more beans....

And now for some sight from the Morrisburg, Ont flea market....

A large doll head in a rain barrell
This is a must have for Halloween!

                                                   This was strange....

A garden lamp with fake flowers added on

I think it is meant to put near a grave...
The really freaky one .....to tell you the truth I was not confortable
taking pics,,,,,It is a swag with a light meant to sit on top of the
                                                      tombstone.....with fake flowers of course....

                                                      (Me NO like)

Right now we are debating to start the furnase or not...

The NO side won so right now we will be wearing an extra
                                                       layer!

Back to DWTS.....who did you like? who you didn't?

Itching

I'm itching to sow seeds now....but it's too early

I saved  quite a bit of seeds...In the biggest jar is perrenial sweet pea; the medium jar has
butternut squashed and in the itty bitty one are delicata squash seeds

Of course you recognize  some of my Pyrex!

So in this picture you have 3 things that make me happy: seeds, mason jars and Pyrex!

I had a talk with Dan and we will definitely be back in the funky gravy on the So Guy chinese restaurant in Morrisburg, Ont.

So I should eventually get pics for you!

Cute

Yesterday we hopped in th car and headed to Ontario; Morrisburg to be more exact. There's a flea market on Sundays....Every Sunday from 8 to 4...

I didn't take a lot of pictures, because how many ictures of overpriced Pyrex can you see? Really?

We didn't buy anything; we were looking for some thrifty battery operated camping lanterns and didn't find some.

On the way home we stopped in Long Sault to a flea called the Market Place, some of our furniture comes from there.

I saw this and have to take a picture!

Aren't these tackylicious yet adorable?

I'm already regretting leaving them!

Oh well!

Maybe they'll still be there when we go back!

Be well

VTT: A Flea to Get LOST in!

Good morning everyone! I'll be linking to the original vintage party VTT @ Colorado Lady .Check it out for some vintage lovelies!

On the way home from Kingston, Ont we decided to stop at a flea market we had recently heard about. Heck I don't even know its name!
All I can tell you is that it's in Morrisburg, Ont, it's held every Sunday from 8 to 4 and there's tons of interesting thingies!

It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is huge inside! There are different levels, at least 4! Since we arrived at 3pm and it closes at 4....We were running all over the place trying to see everything!

You know how I am with Pyrex! I couldn't help myself and I took some pics!

Yummy casseroles!

I still think about that cup...but i left it there it was too expensive!

Those were really pricey...sad face.

Those pics were all from the same booth! Is that crazy or what? There was a booth with just Depression glass and one with just Jadeite!!! Ever wonder where all the Jadeite went? ALL IN ONTARIO! LOL

We will go back for sure!

Have a great VTT!

Retro Tuesday: Antiquefest

A super warm Vonlipi's welcom to my 66th follower Monimania!
Saturday we got up early and bright eyed and bushy tailed with hit the road...Direction Morrisburg!

In my little bird brain I was under the impression  that it was going to be HUUUUGGGGE. Brimfield huge! If you've never hears of Brimfield check it out in the web....it goes on forever. We'd even brought the buggy....just like in Brimfield!

Well my fantasies fell flat when I saw about a dozen tents by the river..Gorgeous site...12 tents....Oh well! We were here and we were going to have fun!

Hey Tracy! These are the applainces of your dreams! Pink all over!

I love those oil cans and they were reasonnably priced!

I did spot some Pyrex that I didn't have (the bigger yellow fridgie) but it was too expensive for my taste.

Check out the bowl with dots! That's not a Pyrex but an Hazel Atlas and it's just as sweet!

Antique shows attract a lot of characters...There was this guy pushing a baby carriage with a very large cat inside. Yes a cat! And he would show it around and answered questions. That was weird. Translation: I'm single, lonely and enjoy attention so I parade my cat.

You could also get some grub on site. It was fun, but being antique sellers the prices were too steep for me. So now I realize that I enjoy antique fairs but I want thrifty deals!

Do any of you know Map-O-Spread? That is one yummy treat! It's spreadable maple (artificially flavoured) butter. It is great on soda crackers or a warm buttered piece of toast! It was really glad to see this old tin bucket. Nowadays it's in small plastic tubs.

We pushed west and ultimately ended up at the Gananoque Flea market. This is a great place to make good deals.

Look what I saw....

It is a Pyrex Fireglow nesting bowl set. This is a pretty rare pattern from the 60's. Notice how the pale orange blends with the red.....DELICIOUS! And at 15$ for the 3 bowls it is quite a deal!
No I didn't take the bowls home with me....why? There is the space factor and I have the smallest one !

More on that road trip on another day! In the mean time do visit Tracy @ Crazy Suburban Mom for more Retro Tuesday fun!

Women Food God and Antiques!

Wow I have 3 new foloowers! Abig warm Vonlipi's welcome to Blue Ridge Altered Art , Florine from my-vintage-dollhouses and Bounty Huntress (if you have a blog I couldn't find it).  Visit them they have fab blogs!

A couple months ago I bought Women Food and God by Geneen Roth because I had read about it in my pal's blog Tracy Crazy Suburban Mom. I received it and forgot about. Then 2 weeks ago I was watching Oprah and the author was there...I remembered I had the book! So I started to read it last friday. Well I tought about it ALL weekend!

So this week has been pretty crapesque at work and on night after my shift I ran into Zeller's (small Walmart) and headed for the snack aisle. Oh man oh man I was going to stuff my face! So I was looking at all the chips and whatnots and realised I didn't want anything and I wasn't hungry! I hoped on my bike and told myself: You're frustrated girl, you had a shitty day, live that emotion and all will pass. And it did!

So I'm real psyched because tomorrow we're getting up early and heading out to Morrisburg, Ont for this shinding....

Antiquefest! Cool! And we're packing a picnic! I don't know if I'm gonna bring my super picnic basket because it is pretty heavy..I will take tons of pics I promise!

Have a great weekend!

Roadtrip!

Monday morning the sun was shining (quite an event!) and we decided to go west...to Ontario! But farther than usual...to Morrisburg, which is about 25-30 min west from Cornwall.

During a pit stop at Tim Horton's I remembered that it was a Civic Holiday (Bummer! everything was going to be closed!)

Morrisburg is lovely. It has beautiful houses by the water, it must have been a very prosperous town at one point.

The thrifting gods were smilling upon us because we saw quite a few garage sales. It didn't feel right to take pics of people things on their lawns and I was too excited to think of it!

I found a paper back, a vintage cooking mag (better homes and gardens) and a nice pair of S&P shakers. I got confirmaton that Dan is a Vintage Lamp Addict (VLA) as explained in the Thrift Shop Romantic blog...First thing I knew we had not one but 2 lamps in the car, one is a small mid century table lamp and the other a brass floor lamp (both for 11$). In that garage sale it was plain to see that the seller was a Vintage Lamp Addict as well...that garage contained more than 30 lamps easy!!! LOL

We were able to hit 2 flea markets as well. Both are on the heritage highway.

That is where we saw that DYN-O-MITE red vintage lamp with the horse...too expensive for us but delicious nevertheless!
I saw a couple of Pyrex pieces but I already had them.....Well these things happen!
By the way I love all glassware and anything vintage so I was real happy there!
The afternoon was capped with a nice DQ cone and a dip in the pool...You can get any better than this! I love thrifting in Ontario :)
