I have a hole in my heart

That is the only way I can explain it. I have a hole in my heart and an emptiness in my soul.

As soon as you adopt a living being you are responsible for its life. Food, water, care, love ....that is on your shoulders.

You don't decide that you un-adopt a pet just because it doesn't live to your expectations....

14 years ago, I got a request to adopt a kitten and I turned it down. I felt I had good reasons, we already had 4 cats...That was on a Saturday, 2 days later, the woman who adopted him called and said I don't want him, he's too needy, he wants too much attention.

So after work  on that same Monday we drove all the way to St-Eustache and got that unwanted kitty.

We named him Billy Bob (Bob for short) and the rest is history....

Bob loved to be outside, even in the snow.

Bob with his special lady friend Peanut (Pinotte)

He didn't find this hat too amusing.....

He loved to explore new places, like new furniture

                                          He too, loved glassware....

So after 14 glorious years, we had to send Bob back to his maker....He was feeling poorly and wasn't enjoying life as much. I am sure that mice and chipmunks in the neighborhood are celebrating because he was quite the hunter!

You will be dearly missed, my dear Bob. Who will bite my nose at night and snuggle real tight? You are an excellent cat, fly free and say hi to Pinotte (Peanut)

RIP Bob 2001-2015

Happy New Year!!!

I am wishing all of you a healthy and prosperous New Year!

I spent the last 2 days just watching TV, streaming American Horror Story, stuffing my face and vegging out in pjs on the sofa.

And I cleaned out the pantry and a pesky catch all drawer....

Purging and cleaning is always so satisfying. I can feel that 2014 will be a great year!

Full of inspiration, road trips, thrifty finds and riches (of all kinds).

I feel blessed, full of energy and ready to go!

This is a vignette from the backyard, so I actually see this as I
wash the dishes and it fills me with joy.

Santa and the penguins are keeping company
with Pinotte on top of her final esting place.
I had a feeling she would enjoy them and she reminded me of the penguins;
so it's a win-win for all!

This is it for tonight...Chopped Canada is beckoning!

Quite a week

Thank you to all who sent us condolences.

For us loosing a cat is just as bad as loosing a family member. I know it sounds crazy to some but it is the way it is.

I am so grateful that we were on vacation while we were going throught all those emotions.

And people at my work wouldn't understand. People who don't have pets and don't like pets just don't know.

At my work place if you don't have kids you're weird, and if you don't go to church every Sunday you might as well be Satan.

We decided that since Pinotte (Peanut) love dthe yard and flowers so much we would dig a hole and bury her in the yard.

It was probably the grief thinking on our behalf....It took us most of the week to dig the hole because the ground is full of rocks and clay.

Finally we put Pinotte in the ground yesterday and we have been able to resume life slowly.

                                   Waves crashing in OOB

Sun setting on highway 30 on our way back from OOB

                   Be well

and sleep tight. Take the opportunity to hug your spouse/kids/pets

So Long Precious Friend

I haven't posted this weekend because we escaped to Maine for a fall gateaway.

We just relaxed and hung out.

It was fabulous in a very simple and thrifty kind of way.

I was also really excited to see The Walking Dead season premiere tonight as aired by AMC at 9:00 pm.

We saw some but we got a really sad call around 9:45 pm...Vero , my step daughter and cat-house sitter.

Pinotte (Peanut) our lovely cat was dead on a pillow in The Beach bedroom.

We are still crying

We are grateful that she wasn't sick and died at home with her cat friends in her sleep.

                                 We love you

Fun,Fun,Fun and Weight Loss

Boy oh boy what a great weekend we had! I'm still laughing! Saturday we attended a benefit for the Canadian Cancer Society in a country dance bar called the Honky Tonk. Money was raised by selling raffle tickets, entrance fee including a spaghetti dinner and you could pay a sherriff to send someone in jail for 2 minutes. That was really fun! Of course you would try to be covert so the future jailee was unaware....So a lot of hijinxs followed!

One of the raffles was a bird house similar to this....I'm glad I didn't win it....

Our dance teacher was really proud that half the money raised from the jail came from her students (we were around 15). Of course between jail sentences we would dance our feet off!

Yesterday SD came to visit. We took her to our dance class-it was really hard to dance with her watching but I kept reminding myself that I danced in front of 150-200 people the night before so....And we went for good old french fries..Do you realize how long it was since I had french fries???

Speaking of which: On January 18th  embarked on a journey to get rid of the bulge. It's been a parade of low fat, low carb, high protein foods....So far I've lost more than 4 of these:

Or you could say I've lost more than one of these....

Let's not talk about Peanut's weight....ok?

It's basically the half way point. Now I'm starting the transition to the GI diet which will give me more options. I was really excited to read I would be able to eat beans and carrots. OMG! I was so giddy when I read that!!!  And the recipes look SOOOOO good! I can't wait to dig in!

Have a great week!

Good news and Bad news....

Ok the bad news first. We forgot Henry at home! Can you believe that??? We left him HOME ALOME with the cats...As per Pinotte (peanut) the tuxedo cat, he was really a handfull, like Elfs Gone Wild. She took a lot of pics, it's ugly people...But that's for another post....

Pinotte (Peanut) as she spills the beans....about Henry's behavior.

The good news is we had an amazing time and we did score some nice stuff. No burning villages, no pillaging I promise...In total we spent 9.50$ check it out!

A 70's FireKing mug (as a rule i'm not a FK person but I loooove this mug!), a Corelle sugar dish to go with the creamer I already have (Spring blossom green Pyrex pattern) and for Dan's glass and barware collection a 1975 Kentucky Derby glass.
This is a 043 1 1/2 qt Pyrex casserole in a pattern I had never seen! WOW! Not being a huge fan of brown, I just took some pics. You are reading right! I took some pics and left it there, I did not suck all the Pyrex from Ontario!!!

Last but not least, this is the piece of resistance! A bit of background story before...it is 15h45 saturday afternoon, we're taking the long way home, the scenic route along the St-Lawrence Seaway. It is GORGEOUS!!! And in Prescott we see a little place with signs in the window: Let's make a Deal! Antiques and collectables. Ok now everything closes at 4 pm in Ontario on saturdays. So Dan says: You wanna stop?  I say: Why not??? And then we see it....The skies part and a ray of thrifting God sunlight shines on it and I hear angels singing.....

OMGOMGOMGOMG!!! Look at that! A pink hamper! It would be perfect for SD's(Step Daughter) new appartment (coming in July or August). I ask the guy for a price, fully expecting 50 or 60$$$. And he says....

He says....

4 dollars!!! ok I nearly fainted amongst all the Blue Mountain Pottery! SOLD I scream!!! And we put it in the car laughing!

ok that was my Saturday....Did I mention that the hamper is in super nice condition????

Have a sunny and bright week!
