Merry Xmas!

Merry Xmas to all my readers!

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe day!

Things were quiet here....but that is very nice

I having been blogging a lot because...i spend way too much time on Facebook, I have issues with the photo transfer from my phone to my laptop and Dan my BH missed the last step of our stairs on November 30th and has been in a wheelchair since.....

This is a view of the front of the building my office moved to.

These are the trees in the lobby

The tree in the cafeteria....as you can see everything is brand new and modern

This is the tree in the kitchen on the floor I work
on.

On December 11th I volunteered along
with co-workers at Sun Youth a local food bank and charity.
our task was to decorate the room where the families were going to pick up gifts for their kids.

this really cracked me up...one of the volunteers thought this was an ornament,
but in fact it was a pack of ornaments ! so funny!

On the homefront December was one of the most stressful time I have ever experienced in my life.
The wheelchair, the fact that there cannot be any kind of pressure on the foot, so no walking, no standing , just wheelchair all the time. Dan gets depressed, wants to help (because I do everything in the house and it is Christmas, so extra work)...Dan falls from the chair and now we think there might be a collar bone issue, or muscle shenanigan...we will call a health hotline tomorrow and go from there....

let's just say that I didn't do anything today....i just was...and I ate, watched tv and made sure Dan
was all taken care of.

I am so thankful for the good care we received and that my employer
is really on board with working from home...

Merry Xmas my friends, enjoy your family time and the season!

Merry Xmas!

First of all, I want to wish the merriest and brightest Xmas ever to you and all your loved ones.

Isn

Like baking gingerbread....and wrapping presents.....

Under the watchful eye of the blowmolds....

And I was able to put the finishing touches on my 'buffet'.

I also took the time to reflect on 2016.
This was an extremely difficult year.

As many of you know my father passed in last January.
There was a lot of sorrow, tears and uncertainty.
But there was a lot of joy and laughter as well....
I learned a lot about myself. I learned that I am very
resilient, I might stumble but I will get back up stronger than ever.

What's planned for today?
longing in our pjs, watching tv and eating leftovers.....

Have a great day everyone!

Christmas Decor

Just a couple of blocks from where I live,
there is a tiny tyny Xmas market.

You have Adirondack chairs, Xmas trees and open air fires.
I love the smell of a wood fire.

There's also a heart with a rocking chair, but no Santa.
It seems everyone can be Santa....
NO! I
Xmas is Xmas! I want Santas, stars, baby Jesus, the virgin Mary
and the whole kit and caboodle!

 What is wrong with people?
You want to celebrate Hannukah? Kwanzaa? or Diwali?

GO AHEAD, BUT JUST LET ME CELEBRATE XMAS
THE WAY I LIKE IT!!!

For some reason, here in Montreal there is a lot of tension over Holiday
Decor....
Some town halls decided to take down their nativity scenes to avoid controversy and
some libraries took down their menorahs.

How about we just celebrate our own holidays in peace?

I prefer the melting pot and all its flavors!

After all variety is the spice of life!

On the thrifting front here are some pics of
tackylicious things I left behind!

I left them behind because there were kind of cruddy

 And broken and sad.
And that is too bad because they had a lot of
tackylicious potential!

And here is my 2015 Xmas tree!

The 2016 tree is taller.
I started decorating it today.

Picture to follow!

Sleep tight!

Seen Around

Last week after our return from New Hampshire, I was in NEED of a huge supermarket and big box store visit.

While living in suburbia I would stop at the Maxi & Cie store (Canada Superstore)3 or 4 times a week. I loved that you could get a bag of milk, fill out the prescriptions and buy a sweater all at the same time!

Here in the city (Montreal) the HUGE super markets and big box stores are in the periphery and since I live more in the center i don't have access to these wonders....

So before our shopping trip I packed some snacks, because you never know!

We originally bought this lunch box at a garage sale a few years back.
It was filled with View Master reels...
A few month ago I had to save it from the trash because Dan
said we never used it!

 Apples, Cliff's bars, seaweed snacks...
We are set!

I am betting this will be the 2015 Must Have in
exterior lighting. It is a projector that projects flurries on
your house!

Lanterns and systems to keep your decorations well
organized, as if!
I do like those decorative boxes to give cookies...
 Lights yum!

The lighted pine cones were my faves!

I also saw a limited edition Pyrex display at Walmart.

I loved the turquoise measuring cup....
I had to promise not to buy any....
Dan gets nervous just at the sight of the word Pyrex!
Oh Well!

LOL!

It's beginning to look at lot.....

Like Christmas!

I'm beginning to see signs that the Holidays are just around the corner!

I spied this beautiful swag on Mountain street last week.

And this secret window....

I can't wait to see what this window is hiding!

On the food front, I'm beginning to see some really kick ass sales on Holiday essentials....Like lean ground pork for .99 cents a pound! I bought about 12 pounds and packaged it all in one pound bags and froze them.

Now I can make meat pie (tourtiere) and meat ball stew (ragout de boulettes) and even meat stuffed salad rolls (petits pains fourrés a la viande).

Now I need to work on some cookie doughs....Ginger bread cookies, pfeffernusse, sandies.....

And I'm happy to say my shopping is well under way!

Have a great evening y'all!

Weekend Thriftyness

Happy Monday to everyone! Yes I feel particularly chipper this morning! There was so cool thrifty finds to be found this weekend , even starting thrusday!

Thrusday was Quebec national's holiday and sad to say we don't celebrate much....and the weather was on the rainy side! So Dan (always the enabler) said: Wanna go for a ride in Ontario? Everything is opened!.

Could I say no to this charming line? Of course not! So off we went with our cooler and Tim Horton's coffee!

So one of our first stop was VV in Cornwall. Love that place! I didn't buy anything but took some pics.

How funny is that? A fake brick crock pot!

What would a thrifting trip be without some Pyrex sighting? I already have some bowls in those patterns, so I didn't feel the Pyrexia kick in....I heard Dan sigh with relief, LOL! Top pattern is Forest Fancies, one of my least favorites.Bottom one is Woodlands, I prefer that one but in the dark brown version. And let's face it folks ; brown is the least overall favorite Pyrex color-I kid you not. And it's not moving in my store either...

how cute are those plates? They are made of some kind of melamine with a metal ring around them.

We moved to Morrisburg and the raining go really bad. Even if we kept saying that there was sun in our hearts, we were soaking wet! We had lunch in a really quirky place called The Basket Case Café. It's hidden behind a gift shop in a strip mall. Food was great and totally homemade! we will be back!

In that same strip mall I found a thrift shop and got 2 fab things for the store. I haven't got a pic yet because I didn't clean them.

As for the weekend; it was a garale sale weekend for the entire Ile Perrot! Or so I thought. We were up and out the door by 8am and I suggested we head out to Ville de l'ile Perrot and Notre Dame de l'ile Perrot for a change....
Well there was NOTHING! I felt like I was in an episode of the Outer Limits and had stepped in a thrifting black hole!!! No tables, no signs, no nothing!
OMG did the Pyrexia finally ate my brain? Did it affect my motor skills? Then I remembered that those 2 towns had their big garage sale last week! So we headed back to Pincourt and found at least 10 garage sales. Some of them interesting, some well you know...Kids clothes and toys! HUGH!

Here's what I found. A vintage storage Tupperware, a milk pitcher new with the sticker on,a FireKing cup,An owl lantern and a small Le Creuset pot. Everything is in amazing condition!

Here's a closeup of the owl. This will definitely go in the shop along with the FireKing cup.

As for the milk pitcher....Do you remember I painted mine black a year ago? No? Well you can read about it here . Well let's just say that even if you have super duper paint that is supposed to fuse to plastic....well that is total bull, especially if you use the object everyday...so I now have a brand new milk pitcher for a quarter! I still need to remove some of the glue of the sticker...

Here's some other stuff I didn't buy but wanted to....

So I totally wanted to buy the reindeers and the virgin Mary along Joseph and Baby J. But I don't have room in my garden shed for these beauties...Man we need a bigger house with a Pyrex room and a HUGE garage and basement and garden shed OMG I think we need a barn!

The Santa Claus I already have a gift from Pierre (Dan's bro).

It's always like that when I don't blog for a few days....I go on and on and on! But now faithfull readers it's over for today. OOPS! I almost forgot! Welcome to my 61st follower, Tara from Scarborough Seashells you can read her thrifting adventures here and she makes the MOST gorgeous jewelry! No kidding!
