Week 'O' Surprises!

I had some very nice surprises this week! I had to go in town (Montreal) for some doctor appointment and stopped at the Salvation army...

It was filled to the rafters! It was quite a while since i'd seen so much stuff but NO Pyrex people!
                                                                 I found this

And this

And  later that night as part of the Just for Laughs festival we went to see the very funny John Pinette! we laughed for 2 hours straight!

Here's a taste!

And I also received some goodies! I traded some Pyrex with Jeni from In Color Order and I received it on Monday.

A beautiful Opal 503 and an adorable hommade tissue holder...LOVE!

A while ago I won Crazy Suburban Mom 's giveaway of a gift certificate from Novica and I chose some jewelry. A girl needs some bling! And I received that as well!

They came in those beautiful boxes...

Some nice hoops.

This to die for bracelet.

and a gorgeous pendant that doesn't photograph well at all....because of the pearl!

I took this pic from the Novica web site.

I just spent 8$! The rest was covered by the gift certificate! How cool is that?

I had chosen other pieces but was floored by the shipping and duties. They vary from country to country. The web site has gorgeous stuff and I will make some Xmas shopping  there for sure !!!

Today Dan assembled the wardrobe doors for the hall and I assembled the lamp we ordered from LLBean. The doors were later installed but I was too tired for the lamp. The heat is unbearable and my AC feels tired! I should get around to installing the lamp tomorrow! How exciting :)

VTT: Opal Love

Happy VTT everyone! I'm always stoked when Thrusday rolls around...what to write about? I can always
 count on my old standby...Pyrex!

So if you're already a follower you probably read Monday's post HERE! about the Red Barn and the fart faced seller!

I found one of the missing links....A small Pyrex Opal fridgie! With lid! Opal means a white Pyrex with no pattern on it.

The Opal bowl set was introduced in 1954 and had 4 bowls. The company produced them only for 2 years. I don't know about the Opal refrigerator dishes, but what I know is that they are mighty hard to find!

On the far left you can see the new addition, next to it is the medium fridgie. In the back are the 401 and 402.

Part of the Pyrex urban legend is that the largest fridgie doesn't exist. I have never seen one in person, on Flickr or Pyrex Love....Prove me wrong and let me find one!

I couldn't help myself! Another shot of delicious Pyrex Opaliciousness!

Here are more pics taken inside the Red Barn in Hudson, Qc home of the fart face seller.

OOoohh! Melmac!

Le Creuset and assorted cast iron

Assorted Glassware

Need a toaster??? We got toasters!

Chairs,chairs and more chairs....

And guess what? More chairs!

I hope you enjoyed this little tour! Be sure to visit the so delightful Suzanne from Colorado Lady
for more vintage joy!

Fantabulous Thrifting Road Trip (Part 2)

As promised, here's the following part of that wonderful road trip. After lunch ,eaten at Cornwall BBQ (Ontario), we were still thirsty for thrift....

So we decided to push west to wards Morrisburg (20-30 min from Cornwall) on the Heritage Highway (rte 2) and then like in a dream....We saw a garage sale on the other side of the road and I asked to stop. I don't stop to all sales, I passover the ones that seem to only have kid stuff...
So we had to turn and drive back...and then maybe 50 to 100 feet from it I yelled: Hey! There's a Pyrex Carafe! And yes there was one and better there were 2 Pyrex carafes!

Here are the 2 carafes from the garage sale. In front 2 jadeite Fireking berry bowls I found in a barn for a song and the 401 Pyrex Opal bowl I found here...

This wonderful haven of antiques and collectables is on Heritage Highway (Rte 2) west of Morrisburg. I don't know how far, but not that far.Okay, okay I loose all track of time when I'm on the thrifting war path!
I had everything a glass collector could want! Rooms and rooms and rooms of glass and pottery. It was packed from floor to ceiling. And there was Pyrex in every room! No lies!

Hum! Delphite! and Pyrex!

Oooh out of focus but you can still see the PYREX!

Look at all that blue! And there was one room full of MILKGLASS! That's when I thought of you Douce France! All the milky glass goodness...so white,so pure! Why I didn't take a pic, I don't know!

Look at that light on the Shenandoah Pyrex bowl....

This was taken in the basement. Look at the view of the St-Lawrence river! WOW!

I was really excited to find this place opened because we had drived in front quite a few times but it was always closed. The prices are not cheap but not crazy either. I know for a fact that you can bargain a bit 'coz I was able to just that for my bowl. I have been looking for that little guy for quite a while. Opal is hard to come by, they didn't make a lot of items.

They are open 7 days a week, 10 to 5 until October; at least that's what the lady said!

Oh and I found this at Value Village...

This paper towel/aluminum/waxed papaer dispenser is so shiny you can see my whole kitchen in there!

I hope you enjoyed this installement of Fantabulous Road Trip! So if you're not that far, pack a picnic and jump in the car and head out west or east depends and take the old road west or Cornwall and you just might be surprised!

Today I'm linking to Vintage Thingy Thrusday hosted by Suzanne from Colorado Lady . Get over there! Don't be shy! I know you want to! LOL

Sad morning

Today I received a package I had been looking forward to for a couple of weeks...To tell the truth I'd been eyeing this Pyrex Opal 401 for quite a while now...
And since Xmas was near I decided to give myself a little Pyrex bowl. It didn't come from eBay but from a Canadian eStore.
So the mailman made me sign for the box and off I went to open this box full of Pyrex goodness...
I had ordered a Terra cup as well ( I had been fantasizing about a cactus in one of those) I'll post a pic soon. And then I see my sweet little opal bowl all wrapped in Saran Wrap....It looks like there are cracks in the bowl...Could it be??? Oh NO! I opened the plastic wrap and the bowl all came apart....RATS!!!
So I took a picture and wrote to the eStore. I don't know what will happen, I didn't receive an answer yet.
So I watched some True Blood and made a batch of caramel corn!
I have to go I still need to shovel some new snow!!!
BROKEN PYREX UPDATE! The store wrote back and they refunded my full payment! WOW! Fast and professionnal! I'm impressed
