Drumroll please! LOL

Finally I was able to finaggle and now I'm able to download my pictures from the IPhone.

I'd like to begin my last saturday's lunch...We had read in the local newspaper that on the Vaudreuil/Hudson border was a BBQ luminary that would park his rig in a mall parking and do some real Q.

This is so rare in Quebec that we nearly couldn't wait to jump in our car and stuff our faces in BBQ heaven!

A juicy smoked beef brisket sandwhich with homemade slaw.

The sauces (homemade) were fantastic. I tried the medium bbq sauce and the creole mustard.

Major Yum!

To top it all off these folks were the friendliest.

They cater, weddings ,parties etc....

Now I'm looking for an excuse to book them!

They only use antibiotic and artificial growth hormone free meats from farms that

treat animals humanly. Another plus!

I was really impressed my the size of the rig....

Compared to my little dinky smoker!

By the way I was not paid for this post. I just bloged about it because it is delicious and they are super friendly!
The pulled pork looked amazing and the ribs too. I saw lucky folks buying sauces and racks of ribs to bring home!

The Barn

You know how you can walk or drive past something really extraordinary a gazillion times and not notice?

Well....it happened to us yesterday. After the dance class (which was so much fun by the way!)

We decided to grab a bite in Hudson maybe 15 minutes away and near our destination there it was....

A big old barn with opened doors and tatered flags, you know the ones, re,white and blue and writen 'Antiques' on them.

Unfortunately we could stop we were too hungry (line dancing really makes you work out an appetite)
So after a delicious lunch of roast beef sandwich au jus and key lime pie, we went back to the said barn. By the way the pics are front the 'backyard' of the Willow Place Inn in Hudson.

I was a bit apprehensive at first because it looked and felt like the Pick n Paw, remember the Pick n Paw? if not you you can read about it in this post http://vonlipisfavorites.blogspot.com/2009/09/pick-n-paw.html

It sure looked like it! All dusty and opened cupboards full of half full water bottles, an the guy said: if you have questions I'll be in the car...After the first few feet it became quite apparent that this was the bestest barn EVER! I believe all the collectibles were represented here! No joke!

I saw glasses,dishes,McCoy,Glasbake,LeCreuset,rolling pins,barware,lanterns,luggage,lamps,furniture,cups,decanters,boxes,tins,bottles,sports gear,Fireking and of course the big P...the Pyrex. I never knew such a gem existed so near! It was so full of stuff, I'm sure I missed some. The biggest concentration of Pyrex i had seen in a long time...I had to pick up my jaw from the floor!

And for a big barn by the side of the road it is surprisingly clean, I didn't see mouse poo! How does one keep this big space so clean? And no spider webs! The only problem was the lack of lighting...Next time we'll be sure to bring flashlights!!! I found these 2 little guys in great condition for a very fair price.

Less than I paid for one in Brimfield Mass....

I'll be back to the barn...fo'sure!

Finnegan's Flea Market

Haaaaaaa! Saturday morning, not too hot,kinda overcast....Spur of the moment ROADTRIP!

Off to Hudson Quebec, about 30 min west of Montreal. Hudson is a sweet village on the shore of the Two Mountains lake with gorgeous houses and quaint little shops and saturdays Finnegan's flea market.

Situated in a field, it has a real old fashion feel. There you can find collectibles,furniture, crafts,antiques,plants,organic veggies and honey and homebaked goods.

In the second picture my friend Therese (chance meeting) just put a deposit on the gorgeous english hoosier in front of her. She just happened to stop by on her way to Ottawa.

I always feel like I'm on vacation when in Hudson. Time seems to stand still...

Of course I was on the hunt for some missing Pyrex pieces and maple syrup. My supply was long gone....Thank god my regular supplier was there! 4 cans should last me a year(I hope). I also found some sweet pea seedlings at Ferme le Tournevant (a small organic farm) run by young people.

I saw some Pyrex,but nothing I was looking for. A small turquoise 401 was marked 20$ (that is a lot of clams!!!)

We did find a true treasure...Unfortunatly I have yet to take a pic...A heavenly ashtray for 2$.

I'll try to take a picture for next time!

One thing is for sure: You can always have a real good time there!

This seller had nice stuff,but a real bad attitude! LOL (I won't be buy his stuff anytime soon!)

New Year lunch

If you're ever in Hudson, Qc and feel a tad hungry be sure to stop to the Willow Place Inn on the shore of Lake-of-two-Mountains.
Situated in a beautiful old house built in 1820, you can either enjoy luch or supper in the pub or the dinning room and if the weather is nice they have a wonderful lawn where you can eat or have a drink in a nice Adirondack chair.
The food is pub grub with flair ( Is this a restaurant review?lol) You can order kidney pie, fish and chips or tandoori salmon. Their specialty is The Willow Dip a delicious rib roast sandwich with an au jus bowl and fresh cut french fries...TO DIE FOR....
I had one just yesterday .....YUM!
Their desserts look absolutely delightful but I never ordered one (I never have room....)

In winter you can cross lake-of-two-mountains on the ice bridge and in the summer the ferry is there to take you to Oka.
From the pub you can see people ice fishing,ATV-ing and snow gliding.


After lunc you can take a drive to see the beautiful Hudson houses and take a walk in the village for a spot of shopping.

I love Hudson village, it reminds me of quaint New England villages. I wish I could live there one day....
