So sorry

So I discovered that I have a set amount of personal web time..meaning that if i spend all my
time checking out everybody's finds on Facebook then I have no energy to share on Blogger....

we are purging slowly but surely....

Purging is really hard under normal circumstances but associated with grief....Ay caramba!

I spend way too much time on Facebook
on the Pyrex and all vintage group...
so informative and entertaning

I saw this at Quebec Goodwill (Renaissance)
and believe it or not I won the exact same plate on a sale blitz
at work about 22 years ago....

This is the crystal chandelier in my stepdaughter's apartment.

I just realized that is so overdue for a good clean....rats!

This will be a project for a long weekend!

be well, be safe and keep on thrifting!

Thrifted! I love surprise thrifting!

Really! Who doesn't?

So last Friday on our way to my official B-Day dinner, I stopped at my usual thrift joint...

I was happy that the bag check lady was not at her post...the locals were calm and smooth....

And I found these gems!

                                               oooooohhhhhh! Amazing blowmold action!

Who knew Santa had blue eyes??? Not me!

Le Creuset escargot dishes. I see quite a lot of scratched and used
Le Creuset but usually  escargot dishes are spotless because let's face it
people don't serve snails that often.

and finally a Pyrex 2 cups glass measuring cup. I had a Fireking one that
cracked and died not so long ago, so cool buy for a buck.

I hope to post again soon about my B-Day supper....

Surprise Thrifting

On Saturday there wasn't any plans for thrifting. We just went to Dan's daughther's place to measure windows and figure out what we needed to repair a wall and paint.

But I had to stop at Renaissance! Just so you know the weirdos from Thrusday night were all there on Saturday afternoon.

The employees are in the weirdo category as well...There's the lady that runs after you in the store to leave your bag at the cash (Heck the person that steels a $2 dollar shirt really needs it) and the cashiers that don't understand the cash register and the manager from France who knows everything and won't hesitate to correct your french. LOVELY!

I found the Butterfly Gold butterdish at Renaissance.
the Oxo mug I found somewhere else....

On our way back, Dan saw a giant sign advertizing a garage sale. This sale was amazing! It is the once a year unbelievable sale. It was in a hardware store that closed in the 80's judging by the merchandise.

Dead stock Androck utensils made in Canada.

A dead stock orange Thermos
and 2 lovely Federal bowls with green flowers.

 And a tackylicious Mushroom trivet

I still don't know what will stay and what will go in the Etsy store
Of course I still think about stuff I left behind...
There was so much! I could've gone every day for a week and buy stuff everyday.
But it was late in the day and the place is far from home so I got stuff that grabbed me.

Be well and keep thrifting friends!

At the thrift

I don't have access to a lot of thrift shops... some are easily acccessible, some OMG, it takes a lot of planning to go!

Last Thursday I went to Renaissance in Verdun. This place is truly a haven for weirdos, yours truly included , except I don't sniff dishes and I try to not thrift'n'fart!

So this is what I found

From what I could gather from ebay this is a zulu lulu glass (right) with friend.
Made in the 50's by Federal Glass.

These are not politically correct at all but great fun. The irony? the cashier at the thrift was from Haiti and didn't even bat an eye, LOL.

Dan was thrilled to add to the barware collection!

Now I got this for me and the living room as I think it goes perfectly with the 60's theme!

I think this was a pudding dish. My parents had wine glasses from this set in Amber.
I think you could buy them from the Eaton's catalog.

It looks beautiful with a Patchouli from Yankee Candle.

Lovely!

(It seems I got my blogging mojo back, fingers crossed!)

I just couldn't help myself!!!

After work this afternoon I had the chance to go to Renaissance for a bit of thrift!

If you're a regular reader you probably remember how I have a love/hate relationship with that place....

The pickings are often of the slim kind!

But tonight with my eagle eye I was able to sink my thrifty claws in these treasures!

This crazy heatwave was momentarily side swept by these lovelies...
I know I made promises...no more exterior light bulbs....But how could I resist? Hoe could I resist Canadian Outdoor Lights????

Check out the funky shape!

I can't wait to try these! I got a whole bunch for $2.99.

If you know of a name for this disease please feel free to tell me!
I have a vintage ashtray sickness, we don't smoke. I love these!
I figure this one is for cigars.
It might go in the store.

And I kinda went nuts when I spotted this.....I knew Dan would love it.
 And I was right!

Which bar ware lover wouldn't want this beauty?
And just who is Richard?

This was a promo Jim Beam bottle from 1968

It will look great with the guys.

I also got a milk glass cup but it didn't look good on film, so that is for next time.

Thrifting is so much fun!

Now please send me some Pyrex....please,please,please! LOL

Have a good night and stay cool!

Just what the doctor ordered!

This morning I was sitting at my desk feeling a bit queasy and I said to myself; Miss V you know what you need?
You need a big ol’ bowl of love, a bowl of Pho! So at 11:30am I was on my way to Saigon restaurant on Metcalfe.
I ordered a big bowl of beef pho. I was not disappointed! The broth was rich and tasty with slices of raw beef (they cook quick enough in the broth) and oodles of rice noodles. YUM!

I made everything right in my world! Now I’m ready to attack the workload!

I actually only left some onion, after all I work with people!

I want to welcome my new followers! 10 days ago I had 204, yesterday  205 and surprise! I now have 207! SWEET!

I'm quite excited to go a thrifting tomorrow at Renaissance because I've been lucky in the past few weeks!

Ususally people with no money prefer new brand spanking stuff not the vintage stuff I cherish s that makes for lovely finds!

Some I keep, some I sell

That's the way the cookie crumbles

Sleep tight!

Don't put away your coats and boots quite so soon we might have more snow soon! It is only March 21st afterall!
